If money is no object …go here, it’s beautiful with an incredible selection of cured, smoked and exotic meats with a great staff and excellent service. Seriously, you should try this at least once!
Perfect to grab some takeout for a picnic in Trinity Bellwoods!! We split a delicious braised beef sandwich and a kale and quinoa slaw! It’s a tad on the expensive side, so that’s why we shared, but that is to be expected from the queen west location.
I’ve been in a couple times now to Cumbrae’s gorgeous new location. I do mean aesthetically beautiful. White marble, wood, gleaming display cases and an array of absolutely mouth watering products. The space is bright and airy and when you first walk into the immense door of the shop you are welcomed by an army of knowledgeable, busy yet very friendly staff. On the right behind the shining glass is cut after cut of meat of any manner, fresh sausages, bone marrow, organic free range whole chickens…the list is endless! Talk to the staff, as mentioned, they know their stuff and are happy to help with any tips or suggestions.Do a 180 and on the left side of the store you’ll find the prepared or packaged section bursting with products carefully prepared for you by Cumbraes themselves. Personal and family size prepared pot pies, charcuterie, terrines, smoked salmon etc. etc. etcete-freakin-ra. Plus the dry aging cuts of beef and sides of cow (yes at that size I say cow not beef) which are sights to behold on their own.Rounding out the back of the store is the sandwich bar and open prep kitchen. A delightful of prepared hot dishes that changes daily/weekly. I tried the low and slow braised beef with creamy horseradish piled high with arugula. $10 price tag but the quality speaks for itself. Delicious!I can’t wait to come back to Cumbrae’s and pick up even more delights soon. Yes it does come with a Queen W. price point but the care, quality, attention and service is well worth it for anything you’ll walk away with. foodiebites.ca
Picked up two delightful sandwiches for lunch the other day. Got the special which was corned beef with slaw and braised beef with horseradish for my husband. Both were on smallish, fresh buns but were stacked quite high with meat so they were enough for lunch. A bit pricey at about $10 each but I could taste the quality of the ingredients and I watched them being made with love at the deli counter.
