Despite the popularity of other dumpling places in the area like Mother’s Dumplings and Dumpling House, Dumpling King doesn’t seem to get that much attention for some reason. It’s a very modest place with simple decor. There’s chairs, tables, chopsticks, and then the kind of wall posters that families would hang in their homes for Chinese New Year. Nothing edgy about this place. In fact, you have the complete opposite: a quiet restaurant that serves reliable home-style food. The dumplings here are solid (I like the steamed pork) and there are other dishes on the menu like noodles or braised pork if you’re interested in more than just dumplings. The dumpling skin is slightly thick and chewy (which is a sign that they make their dough) and in general, the food doesn’t make me feel like I’m getting my week’s worth of sodium in one meal. Cheap, healthy, and authentic Chinese food? Yes please.

Really good. I went here last night around 5:30 and it was pretty empty, but by 6, the place was really starting to fill up. The menu is medium size which I thought was great because you didn’t feel overwhelmed with too many different flavors of dumplings like at some places. I had the chicken and chive dumplings (steamed) and they were great. One friend ordered beef and white radish (steamed), which was okay…it had a really beefy flavor. My other friend ordered the pork and sauerkraut dumplings (steamed) and I thought they were the best of all three. Good service, our teapot was immediately refilled, but if you want to ask any questions, forget it. The language barrier was a bit of an issue for getting more information, however, based on what I got, I don’t think you can go too wrong with anything here.
