Great food, great value, great service. The vegetarian manchurian balls are very good.

Wow! I’m from out of town and was looking for vegetarian fare. The chef (owner?) took my order over the phone making suggestions based in what I told him I like and he made the perfect dish. Perfect crunchy noodles tossed with vegetables. The service was amazing what a great place and very affordable. This will be a must every time I’m back in Toronto!

I have been going to this restaurant since it has changed management and i couldnt be happier. They have Great food with big portions and an awesome service. I have been to several Hakka restaurants but this one tops them all. The food is always consistent and it is the best Hakka restaurant.

Good food with great service. I’ve been going to Esquire for over a year now and love the food there. The quality is by the best out of all Hakka places in Scarborough (believe me I’ve been to a LOT of them!) .The Manchurian Fried Rice is the best in town. The lady usually running the place is warm and very hospitable. I’m NEVER going back to Linn Garden again!

Amazing Hakka Food. What a great place!!!! A friend told me about it and I have been to so many Hakka Chinese food places. This place tops them all off!!!I started with Fish Pakora and Chilli Chicken (dry version). Both were amazing. i usually go to Tangerine or Federicks but this was honestly the best I have eaten. It was just the right spice and came out hot and crispy. I also had the manchurian noodles which do not have the red dye in it. I am used to seeing bright red noodles but these tasted better than the red ones and probably were better off so that I am not eating that dye.I highly recommend this place and I am going back to try new things. i have been 2 times with 2 different people and I ordered the same thing twice and it was consistant.

Amazing. Formerly Rasa Sayang, Great Eastern has been under new management for the better part of a year (as of this review) and I have to say that while I enjoyed the restaurant before the change, the new ownership has been simply awesome. It’s still Hakka, but the menu has greatly expanded and you can tell they have a real passion for making and serving great food. Ingredients are very fresh and the service couldn’t be friendlier or more efficient. The restaurant is small but nicely laid-out, with a cluster of booths in the center and a well-placed TV playing something entertaining to watch while you wait. They have very competitive lunch specials, so noon can get pretty busy; I prefer to go in the late afternoon or early evening. As far as food recommendations, ‘must-tries’ include the Shrimp Roll and Pakora appetizers, Beef with Onions, Chilli Chicken and the Manchurian Mixed Noodles. Be warned, the noodle portions here are GIGANTIC, easily enough for two people. The Sweet Hakka Chow Mein is also delicious – a Hakka specialty with a molasses-infused sauce.I also (REALLY) have to recommend their unique variation on Mango Pudding. It’s incredibly rich and creamy, almost like a mousse.Try this place out, it’s worth it!
