This was a terrible experience and one that won’t be forgotten. To begin with our table had a very old can of tea on it with what looked like decomposing tea leaves. I ended up waiting 1 hour for my order and left because it never came. I ordered a dish of egg fried rice, it doesn’t take 1 hour to cook egg fried rice, it takes a few minutes. We waited and waited and waited. I asked the waitress how much longer it would be and she said 5 minutes, 15 minutes later we left. They didn’t care about the non-asian customers. Why do I say this? Well 30 minutes after we arrived two different chinese groups went to the restaurant and they were both served before us. Their food was cooked and served to them quickly and there we were waiting for a dish of rice that should have been ready in less than 10 minutes. I will never go back here.
Love it!!!. I was born and raised in northeast china and this restaurant definitely has the most authentic northeastern chinese food in toronto. the sour cabbage dumplings are my favourite, it has the correct proportion of meat and sour cabbage. the bbq lamb skewers are delicious, if you are looking for something exoctic, you can even see bbq chicken hearts and lamb testicles on the menu! their signature dish Daokou roasted chicken is something that you can only get from this restaurant. if you want dessert, i recommend sugar coated hawthorn on a stick (tang hu lu in chinese), it brings back so much childhood memory of being a kid eating it on the street in winter.
Great food. I knew the owners when they ran a small little meat stick hut in china town. it’s great to see they expanded into a full restaurant. The dumplings i’ve had here are probably the best i’ve eaten from a restaurant (including mama’s dumplings, dumpling house and several in markham/scarbs). They use a minimal amount of MSG if any at all so i don’t leave feelings thirsty and tired. In addition they have several other dishes that are unique to the northeast chinese style of cuisine, all done very well. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for dumplings, and in addition to anyone looking to try chinese food other than southern/cantonese style.
