Excellent place for economical dining…. there is a wide variety of sandwiches, roti, and rice and peas dinners that you can get for less than $10……coleslaw is very tasty and they also cater to your sweet tooth with their peanut drops, rum cake, potato pudding. Great place to go to get a taste of Caribbean cuisine. I eat there all the time and i especially like the oxtail dinner, the snapper dinner and the jerk pork roti. The staff is very warm and friendly and are quick in bringing the food. It is the best place to just drop in and grab some food on the go or if you prefer, to just sit and chill while you enjoy your meal while listening to the best of Caribbean music.
came here once as a then-meat eater and had ackee and salt fish for the first time.. I’m not gonna lie it wasn’t my thing but it also wasn’t bad… just not good enough for me to ever want it again but the rice and beans were alright. However what I do remember is that their coleslaw was REALLY GOOD! mostly because it had a mayo base and i hate when it’s vinegar based or green… That little bit of coleslaw was soo good i would definitely go back for that haha especially now as a vegetarian i gotta explore other Ital Jamaican food. My Caribbean reviews are biased because i’m not a fan of the food in general… hopefully I discover stuff I like in the future.
Not the most physically attractive spots in Kensington but the food is good. I recently had delicious beef patty’s and my friend had the roti, we were both full, happy and didn’t break the bank. If you’re craving Caribbean takeout, then this is a good location.
The Jerk Spot is a small family-run Caribbean eatery located in Kensington Market. The place may be small but there are a few seats in the restaurant, and the menu is displayed clearly on the side. Looking at the menu; The Jerk Spot offers a wide variety of dinner options in two sizes; small or large. Additionally, they also have roti and sandwiches which are all priced under $10 each.My friend got the jerk chicken breast roti ($8.50). The size of the roti looked pretty reasonable to me. my friend mentioned that there was a good amount of chunks of meat wrapped inside of the traditional flat bread.I got the BBQ chicken dinner ($6.75) which was served with rice & pea and coleslaw. The chicken was slathered in a BBQ marinade and had a good level of spice to it. Again, the portion was reasonable for its price point and good value for under $10. I wished that the coleslaw was slightly larger but nonetheless, it was flavorful and tangy. foodaholicblog.blogspot.com
