Tucked inconspicuously away off Dupont on the northern spur of Bedford Road is this lovely French Brasserie serving excellent continental fare, with knowledgeable staff, buzzy but not overwhelming ambiance and a great selection of wines. The restaurant serves Veg friendly dishes such as this Ragot Vegetarien, which was delicious.
Good Food/Good Price/Staff Recognizes us and makes us feel welcome. Soup’s good. Beef’s good. We love the cheese plate. Good beer selections (sorry, we’re not wine drinkers). Never skip dessert! Come early, if you don’t have a reservation–the kitchen opens at 5:30!
I am voting with my wallet. And never eating at Le Paradis again. Snotty service, lame food, why bother there are so many other options. Perhaps they don’t care anymore as I know they have regulars but fat chance I will ever darken their door again even though I have gone there many times before. So long Le Paradis.
Unbelievably Bad. Le Paradis use to be a place to gather family/friends, reliable & reasonable, pleasant atmosphere. Many staff, same over the last 20 years. However, yesterday we were faced with a putrid culinary bomb. Grande Head Waiter (they are now assisted by frenetically bitter sub-waiters), treated our table of 6 guests as an imposition. He walked away several times mid-sentence, presumably we were not ordering quickly enough for Mons. A minimalist, bland peach sauce was sprinkled over frigid, bitter pork. 4 orders of a basic pepper steak produced meat so mediocre and stringy, it was truly choke-worthy. Sub-waitress confiscated glasses/plates with visible irritation, glasses collided under your nose like shrapnel. $450.00 plus later, the only good thing was the magnificent wine. This is no Paradis; it’ a pricey Inferno adorned by smug, mediocre service, and terrible food.
A bit of a disappointment. This is my second time at Le Paradis and I took my husband for his birthday dinner there for celebration. The atmosphere was nice, and our appetizer with the escargot was good. However one of the two main courses (the duck leg confit was okay but a bit salty), the pan-fried cod, was completely tasteless. A lady at the table next to us also ordered a fish main – complained profusely to the waiter. The waiter and management also only appear to be interested at tables who are regular patrons for feedback. Somewhat disappointing experience for a birthday dinner…
Ms catherine hoffmann. I enjoyed le paradis in toronto. but noisy and kitchen was open, so not a great ventillation system
Good french food, nothing out of this world. I went with a group. The escargots are very good!! The mussels as well. The duck confit was a little salty. Very good, but not the best I’ve had. Chickpea salad is weak. The desserts are very good. Not expensive at all. I like La Palette on Queen st more.
