I worked pretty late today so the dinner plans with my mom didn’t happen unfortunately. So, plan b.. take out was the next best option! Fall weather is perfect for comfort food with loads of carbs! Dumplings, freshly fried pot stickers and home madespring onion cakes is jam packed with flavorful carbs! New Northern dumplings delivers leak pork chives dumplings that are full of flavor and all the juice you would ever want in steamed dumplings! There was good chewiness but yet the skin was still pretty thin which was quite impressive. My favorite however was the spring onion cakes. It was very yummy! The dough was soft, chewy and warm, encompassing the oil and onions inside. It’s one of the best onion cakes I’ve had. The meal was very filling indeed!It kept my tummy and my inner soul happy and warm!

The steamed and fried dumplings are juicy and so flavourful.I came to this place with high expectations and they exceeded them.The wait staff was friendly and very quick with our orders.I came here with my sister and we were both craving dumplings. We ordered the three fresh delicacies dumplings, pan fried pork dumplings, Pork and leek guotie, chive and egg pancake, and the green beans sauted in minced pork. There was only the two of us and how much food we ordered could have easily filled another two people.I could haver gone without the egg and chive pancake because it wasn’t crispy, and was a little too doughy for me. The green beans were my personal favourite. There was a perfect amount of delicious sauce on them but I felt the minced pork was a little too salty.At the back of the restaurant, I could see a lady making the dumplings by hand.These dumplings were truly divine in my opinion. The steamed dumplings did not stick to the paper or to the chopsticks. The wrappers were thin and not doughy at all. There were juices inside the dumpling which made them even more succulant and delicious.I don’t think I’ll ever go down to Chinatown ever again if I have this little gem right outside my neighbourhood.The prices are cheaper and the food quality is way better than anything I have tried in Chinatown.

A good dumpling has a thin skin and juicy interior. Sadly, many of my favourite dumpling places have closed or the quality went down, but this one is thankfully still open.The interior is rather plain, but people come here for the good food and great prices. Service is nothing outstanding but has never been rude. The food comes relatively quickly for being cooked on the spot.Bean curd saladSimple and dressed with lots of garlic, this is a refreshing appetizer.Green onion pancakeThe onion cake is delicious and a must-try. Chock-full of green onions, it arrives steaming hot. Probably one of my favourite places for these green onion pancakes.Potato noodle and cabbageThe noodles were soft with a slight chew but the cabbage was a bit overpowering and made the dish rather bitter.choyVegetables with garlicPlain ol veggies cooked with garlic.Xiao long baoThe xiao long bao are a bit of a miss here, with thick skins and lacking a soupy interior.Look at the thin skinsNow, for the dumplings. My absolute favourite are the egg and leek ones, though all the ones I have tried have been good. Dip them in a little vinegar for optimum taste.This place is definitely a hidden gem for dumplings, and the value is amazing at 15 dumplings for $4.99. orangecane.wordpress.com
