All-you-can-eat Hot Pot?. My friends and I tried to look for a place in Chinatown in the afternoon and realised there weren’t a lot of choices for hot-pot for lunch (it may be because we went on 29th and some places are still closed for Christmas). This is likely the only place we found were open for hot-pot lunch. So we sat down at 2:30, the place were packed. There’s only one waiter for around 20 tables. As hard working as he could be, the service was extremely SLOW. We waited until 3:15 for him to bring the gas for the pot. And than another 15 minutes for him to bring us the soup base. Our food didn’t came until another 15 minutes. The way they work is that they will bring a plate of food with everything they have in the beginning and you keep ordering for what you want. The variety of the food is limited but the lamb was good.We ordered for more food twice (since we were a group of 8), and were still hungry. At our third order, it was already 5pm(It took so long for us to eat since there’s something wrong with the gas and our soup took sooo long to boil). By our third order, they started to ask us to pay, and then never bring us food anymore!!!! And they charged us $25, without an option for tips or nothing(already included when they asked us to pay).So we walked out of the place still hungry….I am very disappointed at this place.
Tasty and unique – great noodles. This place doesn’t leave guests with the best of impressions, but it’s like an authentic NorthEastern Chinese greasy spoon diner. The restaurant doesn’t look very clean, but passes inspections and I haven’t gotten sick yet!Actually, this restaurant is unique and has a very different cuisine than the other Chinese restaurants in town. The handmade noodles are cheap and delicious, with great chewy texture. The dumplings are acceptable as well. My family has some ancestors from Northeast China, so some of the dishes are very familiar to me. You can’t get them anywhere else in Toronto, so I think this place is worth checking out, especially if you’re Chinese or have Chinese friends.
