Had an absolute horrible first experience at this restaurant. Firstly, when my wife and I walked in, we had to get the hosts attention, he came over and muttered something and walked away. Well, we weren’t sure what was happening and he was taking a really long time, so we started to sit at another table (the place was only about half full). He came over and moved us to another table – right next to the kitchen serving window. We both ordered brunch, the service was not very attentive (we had to constantly ask for things, including the free bread). The wait time was going on about 20 minutes and when I finally flagged the waiter down, he didn’t seem too concerned. He talked to the cook staff and told us that it was taking long because they had to make the hollandaise sauce, even though they have 20 different kinds of eggs benny on their menu, to which they were serving without issue to other patrons – some of whom, arrived after us and left before our food came. After about 30 minutes, we got our food (minus one item, which we again had to get on top of them for). I told the waiter that I thought that everything was totally unacceptable, he offered no apology and his solution was to go over to his co-workers and from the looks and pointing, we assume he was talking about us.Blas food, horrible and unprofessional service, I’m amazed that this place is actually still in business. I will never return.
No Thanks!. 0 out of 5 and in my opinion a public health concern! I went here for lunch with my girlfriend and ordered 2 bottles of Molson Canadian beer; what I was brought however was not the beer that I had ordered, but a totally different beer in 2 open Molson Canadian bottles (we only drink Canadian and know what it smells and tastes like). When I confronted the manager about it he brought me 2 unopened bottles of Canadian, which when I opened one – voila!- it smelt and tasted like Molson Canadian and entirely different than the other beer they had just brought me. Even the waitress agreed that the beers smelt different but would not go so far as to admit to having given me something else. Now some may agree that beer is beer, but whose bottle was I drinking out of?! And what do they do? Keep some empty bottles laying around to fill with cheap draft beer to make a few extra cents? I’m not one to usually complain, but I feel that using someone else’s empty beer bottle to serve beer has got to be against some public health policy and a good way to spread communicable disease! Herpes anyone?!
Great Food; Unpleasant welcome. Just moved to the area and It was my second time at Peartree and I must say the food is consistently tasteful – we had the Salmon as well their shrimp pasta – pricing is amazing and definitely worth it! Their mushroom goat cheese appetizer is also a must. Perhaps i would add some more selections when it comes to their wines by the glass. What was the only turn off i must say was the minute we walked in and how we were greeted by the host – dont know if it was the bus boy or the server…or even the owner but the man didnt seem he wanted to be there and barely a smile on his face or even a pleasant greeting to ask how we are. Maybe i am asking for too much but when i go into a restaurant to give them my money i expected some nice treatment from the minute i walk in.so apart from that- i would definitely return!
Good place to take Mom. Low key with reasonable prices and lots of menu optionsSalad Bowl with Chickenor shrimp entree wonderfully presented.Try the back room solarium for a bit brighter ambiance
GOOD CASUAL DINING FOR FAMILY & FRIENDS. March 1, 2009 – The Pear Tree Restaurant easily accommodates our 5:30 pm Sunday reservation for three adults and three children. Service is prompt and polite and our server patiently explain the menu choices to the children. The ambiance and food presentation makes a good impression on our young diners and improves our appetite for a fine dining experience. We start with deep-fried calamari and hot crab cakes. I enjoy and share my Split-pea soup with my nephews. My medium-rare New York Striploin is perfectly cooked. Our steaks are tender and juicy, easy-to-cut, and have no chewy gristle. Our dinners also include Pasta dishes, Chicken Quesadillas, Chicken fingers, and a Pina Colada. For dessert we have Apple Crumbled Pie with Whip Cream and Cheesecake. Everyone thoroughly enjoy their meals and will no doubt return again.
Great brunch, great atmosphere. What’s great about Peartree is that me and a group of four other people were able to get table on Saturday morning at 11 am without having to wait in a line up. This is unheard off for brunch places located in the west end (e.g. Aunties and Uncles). The appeal of Cabbagetown for me has always been its more relaxed and unpretentious vibe, and this restaurant is no exception. Our server was attentive and prompt. I got the creole benjamin which consisted of eggs poached perfectly, with smoked salmon, toasted English muffin, creole sauce, home fries, and fresh fruit. Since we came early, we were also treated to complimentary blueberry muffins fresh out of the oven. I will definitely be returning.
