Honestly was a huge fan of this place for years and the workers knew me. When i went in yesterday, the guy working at the front was really disrespectful. Not only was the guy disrespectful, I found a huge mark of lipstick on the cup i was drinking from. Anyone could easily catch a cold sore from something like that. When i had tried to get the waiters attention, he didn’t look at me, so i went up to talk to the lady who was started apologizing. Whats crazy to me is they know I’ve been a regular there and they didn’t even seem sorry when i brought the cup to their attention. Don’t think I’m ever going back there again.
This is a nofrills restaurant. Service levels are basic and the restaurant ambiance and fixtures are dated. However if one is craving inexpensive bold flavoured halal hakka food and in very generous portions, this is the place to be. Really enjoyed everything we ordered and had leftovers to take home. They also have a 50 person capacity hall, that can be rented for events. But it needs cleaning and updating.
Very poor customer service. I have visited the restaurant several times because of reasonable cost & taste but was never a fan of their customer service. After today’s service I would never go back there. There was something wrong with the soup we use to order every time. On complaining, they changed the soup and was brought back again in no less than 3 minutes. Apparently I think some more sour syrup & chilies were added in it. Still it wasn’t good enough to eat and we left the whole bowl without eating it. We were expecting that they will be apologetic but instead the lady started arguing and raised her voice when we gave the feedback. For me it was a poor experience especially when she kept on saying stuff on my back when I left.
Apparently reheated rice is considered fresh. The restaurant owner would lie to you on your face. Despite showing him clearly that the rice he served us was reheated, he remained in denial. Complaining to a wall would have been better instead. Big waste of money!
Great value for some hot and tasty Hakka food. We had the mango salad, chicken corn soup, chicken fried rice and chilli chicken. The portions were huge. The food was amazing. I’d definitely recommend eating here. It gets super busy and the service isn’t the best, but you will enjoy your meal.
ATTENTION: The menu that you see in pictures has changed, I went in with this menu in mind and got there only to find out some of the options were no longer available.DECOR/AMBIANCE:You walk by this place from the outside and will convince your self you don’t want to go in. You mange to take your self in and are a bit suprise it was not that bad. They offer semi private booth cubicals with sequence curtains. The decor and plant in the cubical could definelty use some love. The booths looked like they were not cleaned too well after the last customer as my side of the table had oily finger marks. My knapkin also had dirty finger marks on it. The washrooms are located in the basement of the restaurant and to my suprise were clean. SERVICE: fast, effentiant straight to the point. No small talk here. Once you pull the curtain, they won’t disturb you. FOOD:Vegetable Spring Rolls $1 each: very delicious, came out fresh. The also bring you packets of plum sauce with it.Fried Rice $6.75: they give you an option of how spicy you want it. We got Chicken Fried Rice and it was very delicious as well. It was flavorful and cooked well. The portions were large and it can definitely be shared with 2-4 people.Chili Chicken $8.95: this was spicy! We decided to get it with gravy and it was definetly flavorful. They used breast meat which made it pleasent to eat. The only thing was that the gravy was slimy in texture. I had to work really hard to get over the sliminess. I should have gotten it dry but was afraid it would be too dry. The portion was decent as well.Szechuan beef $9: this was a let down, the beef was a bit on the softer/chewy side. It leaves you wondering could it be slightly undercooked. Besides that, there was no flavor at all. Not only did it lack any taste at all, it also did not look like Szechuan beef. It just looked like meat slices in red sauce. It was a total waste of money.Overall, there are hundreds of items to choose from with decent prices. I probably won’t return too quickly unless I want the spring rolls which was the only highlight of my meal.
If you want cheap hakka food..this is the place. Lunch specials are priced so cheap and they give you a lot of food. Lunch specials are from 11-3pm and sometimes will order before 3 pm for pick up and eat it for dinner! Chili Chicken (dry) is tasty and their Hakka Noodles is huge! You can eat that for days LOL!
