Came here for dinner on a Friday night around 7:00. It wasn’t too busy. We got a table right away. As the night went on we saw others come it but again people barely waited. This is a Hong Kong style cafe that also offers more traditional Cantonese dishes. 3 of the people I came with had been here before & tried their traditional Cantonese dishes and liked it. This time they wanted to try something different so we ordered: Special House Seafood Chow Mein – noodles were crispy but the seafood part was bland. Spicy Eggplant with Miced Pork on Rice- it was underwhelming and lacked flavour. Baked Pork Chop with Tomato Sauce on Spaghetti – same as the eggplant dish, underwhelming and lacked flavour. Also the spaghetti was over cooked and mushy. This dish came with a drink & soup. Nothing all that special. Sweet & Sour Pork – this was the only dish that we all enjoyed. Good flavour, texture & nice size portion. Complementary Chinese soup – this was good too.Based on my experience it seems to me that the chef might be good at the more traditional Cantonese dishes but not so much with the Hong Kong style cafe dishes…hence my lower rating for this place. The other thing that I noticed was the service. There was 1 lady who really seemed on the ball, energetic, enthusiastic and accommodating. She was great! All the others seemed scatter brained. The lady who took our order got 2 items wrong. Fortunately the lady who was on the ball quickly stepped in & kindly resolved the issue. Because of this lady my rating went up by 0.5.Unfortunately for this place there are plenty of other restaurants like them & I’m not sure that I will be coming back anytime soon to give them a second try. Especially since only 1 dish out of 4 were enjoyable.

I really enjoyed Tasty Delight. I tend to stay away from HK Cafes. Oddly enough, it’s because of the variety. I have this theory that any place that does THAT many things must not be very good at one thing. However, this small Cantonese restaurant is always packed for lunch so I figured I give it a shot.We ordered Clams in Black Bean Sauce, Hot and Spicy Beef with Vermicelli Hot Pot, and Tiger Prawns Fried Rice in Lotus Leaf (I didn’t realize how long the dish names were…). The clams were huge! The sauce used wasn’t the best, but the clams were large and meaty. The Hot and spicy beef hot pot had tender slices of beef with mounds of vermicelli noodles and peppers. It’s served on a elevated pot that is heated by blue rocks. The Tiger Prawns Fried Rice was done very well. It’s served and steamed inside a lotus leaf so you get that fragrance from the lotus leaf without it damaging the taste of the rice. This rice was a bit too soft for my liking, but it has a wonderful garlicky flavor and so do the jumbo shrimp that come with them. The service here was stellar. You don’t normally get uber friendly service at these Cantonese places, but our server was outgoing and friendly. Constantly making jokes and just reminded me of my mother a bit too much. Definitely worth stopping by. Even if you don’t know what to get, they pretty much have everything… cheatdayeveryday.com

I was checking out some egg tarts at the bakery next door when I noticed this new restaurant that replaced the old Leslie Cafe. They really did a good job with the renovation. It feels much more comfortable and less like a cafe. They have western and Chinese dishes during morning, lunch, and dinner. On this visit I had their twin (pork and beef) steaks combo with rice. The service was pretty good, they offered us extra soup and dessert. The Russian Borscht soup was really good. When the steaks came out, it was sizzling hot with steam coming off the metal plate. The presentation could of used more work. A simple broccoli and carrots on the side would of made it look a lot better. Instead there was just the steaks with the sauce and onions underneath. Very low key entrance to say the least. The gravy was really good but I could tell there was some tenderizer used in the steak leaving robbing it of any natural flavor from the meat itself. They did give us dessert (red bean sago mix) and my combo came with a Hot Milk Tea that was really good. I would come back again but would try a Chinese entree to give them another chance.
