2019/02/17We were heading down Yonge Street and Urban Hakka seemed like a good place to stop for lunch. It was shortly after noon on a Sunday, and the restaurant was virtually empty. There is seating for about 50 in a very long, narrow layout. We were seated near the back. The menu is not huge, with everything fitting on one side of an 8 1/2 x 11 card. There is a mix of Indian and Asian dishes under various menu sections, such as Thai Curries, Chicken, Noodles, Beef, Seafood, Chop Suey, Vegetables, and Rice. We decided to share two dishes and the first one was Sesame Crispy Beef ($14). Tender sliced, stir fried beef with a little bit of batter to achieve some crispiness on the outside. The beef was sitting on a small bed of light, thin, crispy noodles. The texture of the beef was enhanced by generous sprinkling of sesame seeds. We separated the chili peppers from the pile, but there was still a gentle spice hit with every bite. Our second dish Butter Chicken ($13) and we added a Plain Rice ($2). Rich, savoury sauce with lots of good chunks of chicken. I used a spoon to finish the last drops of the sauce. Service was pleasant and polite.
