The venerable Vena’s makes delicious huge rotis (with great veg options) living up to its fluorescent signage proclaiming this at the entrance to this lovely hole in the wall while still managing to get a few small tables & chairs inside as well as an 80’s cocktail video game table!
It’s the only West Indian roti I’ve ever had so I’m not an expert but I can’t imagine how much better they can get. Flavours are layered and very clean. The portions are huge and they are heavy meals. Despite being stuffed, the roti stays together well. The goat roti is amazing.
Good. Very good. Food was great. I had Chicken and Potato Curry Roti. It was packed with chicken and potatoes. Only criticism is that the potato chunks were quite large and could have been cut more. Hot sauce was actually quite good and actually fairly hot considering most other places have Canadianized their sauces by making them more mild. Overall I would go again!
Good food, good people. Better than almost any Toronto roti, and a particularly wide range of vegetable options. And Vena gives free food to the hungry twice a year. How can you not support her?
