I’m ambivalent. While I did click like (because I’m a nice person like that), I have mixed feelings about Chak’s Rainbow. Chak’s Rainbow serves up single servings of shabu shabu (hot pot), but they also specialize in what in Cantonese is called cart noodles. What this means is that one can somewhat choose from various toppings and add them to soup noodles. The one thing Chak’s does really well is braised beef brisket (in Canto, red roasted beef brisket). It’s got a subtle star anise hoisin flavor and is incredibly tender. That being said, their noodle base isn’t up to par and the broth is bland. The price for a bowl of noodles is between $4.50 and about $6, and the varieties range from garlic chicken in a sesame broth to satay lamb slices on noodle, seafood noodle to noodles with pig intestines, brisket and fish balls. Most of their dishes come with a choice of original milk tea bubble tea, winter melon tea or soy milk. I would go back for the brisket, but next time, I’ll probably get it on rice.Side note. Boss lady needs to learn to smile.
