Sorry Pizarro’s but you disappoint me every time. This is my in laws favorite local restaurant, and they have been going for years, maybe decades (they are in their 70s). They like their food bland bland bland, bless their hearts. Have tried dining in with resos -jammed in an awkward table where we felt smooshed. Have tried walking in on a weeknight- ignored for really long periods throughout the meal. I mean, we don’t rush, but certainly the servers can tell when you are getting antsy or annoyed cause you’ve been waiting 10 mins for menus, 10 mins for drinks to show up, 40 mins for the food, you get the picture. we’ve waited over an hour more than once, and I almost threw a fit when after waiting an hour my food was cold when it arrived. Gluey cold pasta. At a pasta restaurant. I’m a trooper so have tried the veal scaloppine, chicken Marsala, manicotti, tortellini, and the parm. Get the parm. Everything else sucks. I dread going to my inlaws for dinner without knowing first cause sometimes as a ‘treat’ they get us takeout. Horrible. Horrible. Horrible. The only thing that survives the 5 minute drive is the chicken parm. Seriously. I grew up in a small town with a local greasy spoon, and this is equivalent in quality and presentation, but the service is crap and the prices are high. The venue is loud and clammy in the summer, cold in the winter. I will most likely suffer through many more meals at Pizarro’s, but here’s hoping you don’t have to. I’m not a fan.
Very good food and serve hot with the restaurant full. Chicken parmigiana very tasty so were the pastas serve with it . The service was fast and efficient the pricing is good . A place I will return
Good Food, Better Service. We had an enjoyable meal with friends. Th food was very good but the service was excellent.Knowable staff explained the specials incredibly well and suggest a delightful wine to accompany our meal.Would definitely return to this well run family restaurant.
You have to pay for extra oil!. Pizarro’s continues to be quite reliable as far as Italian home style food is concerned but they have some BIZARRO’s ideas about a little extra oil for your pizza. They ask $0.95 for a minuscule container and the waitress was quite adamant about it! Is like asking $ 1 for a cup of hot water for fear you bring your own tea bag.Not very elegant ;-((
Not bad at all!. So i’ve eaten here for years. Service is always great. Food… is a little above average for a Ottawa italian joint. You can tell its freshly prepared. The clincher for me, the price. Its not overpriced… like other places like *cough cough* Trattoria on preston. You get what you pay for, with really good service.Would I go back… absolutly. Maybe i’ll go for lunch again on Friday.
The Grilled Veal and Sausage is an unbalanced meal. Paid 20 dollars for the following entre – about 1 ounce of pounded veal, 1 sausage, and iceberg lettuce salad to fill out the plate. Not a complete meal.Mediocre tasting plus no variety on the plate made me very unhappy. And the price is sickening for what I got. Plus, any child could put together a more pleasant and complete meal. I expected a side of pasta at the very least. What a rip off :(My mom took us out and I feel she was cheated. I cannot stress enough what a cheap, unbalanced, unhealthy, meal this was.
Brian. LOVED IT!!!!!! I am a single father and didn’t want to bring my son when it was busy, just in case he was cranky, but he wasn’t. My waitress, sara took my order and helped me with my son. when he didn’t want to eat, she cut up his food and he was eating it.Wow! And I was able to enjoy my lunch too. Food was great and hit the spot, had the special, will definately go back.
