I thought the food was amazing. First I understand that Chinese food in a small southern Ontario town that likely contains between 0 and 10 Asian people is unlikely to be terribly authentic (yes that’s a bit of a shot at another reviewer). This is Canadianized Chinese food at or near its best. The General Taos chicken and curry noodles (are those shanghai) were amazing. The broccoli with garlic sauce was a huge favorite. I love Canadianized Chinese food and I would put this up with any of them.
Horrible! Will Never Return!. I came to this restaurant based on a recommendation. After reading the reviews, I decided that this was a sure bet. It took me quite a while to get out there as this restaurant was located in a small village outside of town. When I got there, I walked in and was astonished to see how old and outdated this place was. The restaurant was divided into three separate rooms. The first room had a cash register with a few booths and a display case of some Chinese tea and various other small Chinese items. The decor of this place was NOT authentic Chinese at all; it looked like a hockey museum. There were pictures and plaques of hockey memorabilla on the walls and in glass cases. I thought this was supposed to be a Chinese/Canadian restaurant, not strictly a Canadian restaurant. The wallpaper looked old and ripped, not to mention the style was hideous. I was greeted at the front by the host who told me I could choose whichever table I wished. I went into the second room and chose a table near the wall. She didn’t even follow behind me, she took a detour and came a minute later from another entrance; not a great way to start off the evening. I sat down and took a look at the menu. I decided what I wanted, and waited for my server to take my order. I waited about ten minutes before I asked another server if I had to go to the front to order my meal or if a server would come to my table. She said she would get the server to come to my table. The place wasn’t even busy, there were probably four tables with a few people at each table. The server finally came and took my order. Literally, a minute later, my meal arrived. A minute, come on, that didn’t seem right at all. I ordered the lemon chicken with a side of steamed rice. The lemon chicken was drenched in lemon sauce, dry, and the pieces were huge. The steamed rice was not hot, clumpy, and dry. My server was standing around, looking bored as I was eating; not a good sight for customers to see. She came over once to ask how everything was, most likely out of pure boredom. I finished my meal and yet again, had to wait another ten minutes before I asked another server where I had to go to pay. Another server (not my own) came to my table and packaged up the leftovers; she also gave me the bill. I paid the bill and as I was leaving, my server, who surprisingly showed up, said goodbye to me. I got up and left that place disgusted. The service was beyond horrible, the food was something I could have bought in the frozen dinner aisle, and the atmosphere was boring. I know what authentic Chinese food tastes like, and this was NOT it. Will never return to this place and will never recommend to others! What a waste of a drive!
Consistently good food. Friendly service. A Local favourite.
Chinese Canadian Food. Some of the best Chinese food you will ever rap your lips around. Always fresh, taste e, and reasonable. There was a time when you had to wait in long line ups to get a table. People came from out of nearby towns to enjoy Chinese at its finest. Since then they expanded. Their Canadian food is just as good, try a hot hamburg, beef or Cheese Burger. They make some of the best.
Have eaten here for 20 years.Consistent food and great staff.
I love their food and when I’m hanging out in town they let me have free fortune cookies it can get pretty packed . One thing Is if your ordering takeout ask for extra sauce
American Chinese Food. I love this American Chinese food restaurant. The decor isn’t very flattering, old and dated, but the food is always hot and yummy. We love their Fried Rice and Chicken Chow Mein. There is a constant flow of people picking up their take out orders and this place can be packed. It’s inexpensive and staff is friendly.
