Unpretentious.!. The decor is unpretentious and the food is fabulous all-you-can-eat, local, and served up by the chef. The service is warm, friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Over priced and under fed. I didn’t enjoy this at all. I felt ripped off. The price was high and there were not enough choices. Had eggs benedict which was cold and the english muffin was hard as a rock. The desserts were good, though.
Overpriced but tasty. I was so excited to go in for the breakfast buffet, which was very tasty and fresh. They use quality ingredients, and offer eggs benedict, farm fresh sausage, bacon and french toast etc, but it is very overpriced. Dessert is included (you can pick from their dessert chiller much like a cafeteria style setup). They only had one home made butter tart left, and that is what they are known for. We asked our waitress if they could restock so my boyfriend and I could both have a tart. She asked her manager who said no, that the ones on their shelves are part of the store inventory and could not be added to the buffet (they had 6 packages on their shelf). I guess the customer comes second. The view is amazing from the dining room (a pond populated with swans and ducks), but when we got the bill and it came to almost $40 for two breakfasts I was astounded. We never ate there again. I don`t know what kind of customers they think are going to come into that place who never paid for a breakfast before, but we have been to a lot of places, and never paid that much. We never paid that much in Toronto at Cora`s! Their berries are also all overpriced, $5 for a small container of raspberries from California that any other store has for half that price. Again, I think they have missed the mark on pricing vs ambiance. Folks know when they are getting the short end of the stick. I am still a fan of their store and hope they can stay in business, maybe rethink pricing and marketing strategy to generate second visit traffic that way, but I refuse to be gauged again.
Pancake Tuesday … Feb 2012. Big advertisement for ALL YOU CAN EAT PANCAKES for 99 cents. Well it was a disaster. The pancakes tasted like frozen eggos that you get in the grocery store and if you wanted anything more with it like 2 small breakfast sausages it was $2.00… really for two links. The cold scrambled eggs were another $2.00 and you do not put it on your plate they do and you are lucky if it was a big spoon full. Hashbrowns another $2.00 are you kidding. AND TO BOOT IT WAS COLD!! Coffee was to be bottomless but first you needed to have a waitress to come by with some. Never happened. Then when the bill came and it was $39.99 for the 3 of us for breakfast I almost fainted and could not even understand the number of happy faces which indicated what we ate. THIS IS A TERRIBLE PLACE TO EAT … BE FORE WARNED… I WISH I HAD BEEN!!!
A pleasant surprise. I was surprised by the size of the Knapp’s Market, the variety of services and the amount of organic and gluten free products. I picked up frozen curry chicken pot pies for lunch. My husband and I were very pleased with the meal. Flaky crust, generous amount of real chicken (not processed chicken cubes), a nice mix of vegetables and legumes, just the right blend of spices. We will definitely purchase this again. I’ll be back for more products and will visit the restaurant as soon as possible.
Country Perfection. On an unseasonably warm Thanksgiving weekend, our drive through vivid fall colours brought us to Knapp’s. From the road, this is the unassuming country store you might just drive by, but that would be a mistake. Beyond the porch and flower beds, just past the grocer fully stocked with local and organic foods is a gourmet buffet and comfortable seating with a view of the countryside and a lake with swans. The food is incredible: all-you-can-eat, local, and served up by the chef. The service is warm, friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is truly delightful and seals the deal… I wouldn’t change a thing.
