I would lick my plate if could, nothing on menu for all my foodies that haven’t heard before.But the taste is like no other , definitely worth the drive out there.
Excellent!. It’s hard to understand the negative reviews and the 79% rating for Chatterpaul’s. We’re just back from the best meal in a long time: impeccable food and cheerful, attentive service. My wife raved about the stuffed breast of chicken and finished the sauce with a spoon! My shrimp and salmon Alfredo featured moist and flaky salmon (always hard to find) and a delicious sauce. Not cheap but no more than you’d expect for the quality of product and service.
Owner does not care for your business. We were frequent patrons but no more; To make a long story short We made reservations 1 week ago; when we arrived our table was not available, we had to wait 30 minutes before we got seated, 3 or us ordered the daily Seabass special entree; All 3 plates came to the table missing with 1 of the 3 featured ingredient ( ravioli); when asked they brought it on a side bowl; For a restaurant of this price , I would have expected the plates taken away and re-plated properly. Our bill came and there were mistakes; We asked to speak to the manager; the junior acting manager came and only offered an apologies; when we responded that we re not satisfied, they called the owner ( who was busy at their other restaurant) ; we got the message back that she would call us in the morning; She called and acted as a judge on the phone, wanted us to tell us our version of the events; We told her that her staff informed her last night; she offered no apologies and ended the conversation. So much for customer satisfaction 101! Most restaurants I know would have dealt have offered a coffee or desert to make amends for their substandard service but they (staff and owner) did not even bother.
Best hidden gem in Whitby. I have been to Chatterpaul’s many times with friends & family. We have never been disappointed with any appetizers, entres, or desserts we’ve ordered. The service is wonderful from the moment we arrive til the moment we leave.
I read the reviews of this place before choosing it and it seemed like a decent place to go with so many glowing reviews. I guess people in Durham have much lower expectations of a place that charges $25 for a chicken Caesar salad. I am by no means cheap and have dined all over the world at the most expensive restaurants. But when you charge top dollar like this place, think your presenting it like a Ferrari you better have some quality food coming To you. The problem is they need to re-evaluate everything on the menu and see if it’s quality or not for the value. It’s horrible quality for what you pay. I ordered the 10oz ny strip steak for $34.95 as well as 2 others at my table of 12. 4oz of it was pure fat. I have never seen such a poor quality steak. Normally NY cut fat is on the outside edge and easy to remove these cuts were fatty all over and thin. Essentially a greasy spoon steak you get when you order a steak and eggs for breakfast. Are the owners nuts trying to pawn that off as a USDA, grade AAA,AA Or maybe even an A? It was horrible. 2 of the 3 of us returned it and the 3rd only ate it because he was starved and couldn’t wait for something else since they sat us 30 min late of our reso. Caesar salad was amazing but add chicken and tax tip it’s an easy $25-26. Get with out the small rubbery chicken beast my wife endured for the extra $10. Totally not worth it. So mine was returned for the seabass which was ok portioned for a small eating female for 39.95. Value wasn’t there but acceptable level. The bill came for 4 of us with extra drinks on it that we didn’t order that they refunded us in cash as they had already rang our credit card. Service wise, the young blonde an the light skinned awesome hair server were amazing. However the older short blonde server made feel like I was doing her a favor by eating there. Maybe just her disposition. However if you can’t get downtown Toronto for some proper pricing to quality meals I guess this place will have to do. Stay away from the 10oz steak. You will feel cheated like I did.
Mothers 65 birthday, reserved a table for 29. Staff was excellent. The food was outstanding, large portions (mains) the best caeser salad I’ve had anywhere, with free samplers between the appetizer and main course. Everyone loved the food. Chicken parma was large piece of chicken, and the noodles had just enough sauce unlike most places that drown small chicken in a ton of sauce. Presentation of the food is a large focus as well as the taste that makes for a more enjoyable atmosphere. Many would call it a fancy restraint(yes in a strip plaza) but without the pomp. Cannot recommend enough
