Went there expecting an awesome meal because of recommendations from friends, but left disappointed and out $50. My boyfriend loved his meal- a steak and duck liver pate as an appetizer. I ordered the crab cakes which were over cooked and underwhelming. I had lamb for the main dish and it was rubbery. I really liked the decor of the place- aside from the big mural on the side wall. It really cheapens the place and takes away from the atmosphere. Not going back, sad I wasted my money there.
My favourite restaurant in Whitby. Chef Kevin Brown uses local ingredients to create a menu that changes almost daily. KB also offers cooking demonstration nights (ranges in price, you’re served three courses with wine). The pat is the best I’ve ever had. Caeser is made with Walters instead of clamato (10x better!!!). Lots of craft beer on tap.
Sorry, but KB was Kwite Bad. My wife and I went for dinner at KB’s last evening, and I must admit that we were extraordinarily disappointed, to say the least. We have had many memorable evenings at KB’s, and last evening was memorable, but in a bad way. As soon as we told our waiter that we would not be drinking alcohol with our dinner, he became what could be best described as abusive and rude. (And yes, we told Jamie about this)Our steaks, which on previous occasions were fantastic, tasted as if they were marinated in Pennzoil, and then cooked with a blowtorch. If I had wanted to eat a tough steak cooked on a badly cleaned grill, I could have stayed at home and done it myself.It was very nice to receive free desserts to try to compensate us for a miserable evening out, but unfortunately I cannot be swayed by $16 worth of free sugar.Sorry Kevin, but we aren’t coming back. We will spend our money somewhere else where it is appreciated.
A Perfect meal for a 60th birthday girl.. A last minute decision, Sat night, 630pm, where to go?, quick phone call to our son who happens to be the husband to the 30th birthday girl reviewer on this website. Try it you will love it! And so with no reservations we show up and were pleasantly surprised they fit us in promptly as the place was very busy. This was a 3hr dining experience to remember. Food was superb as was the presentation, no pressure, the staff were attentive with excellent repoire and customer service. The finishing touch was a dessert assortment with candle compliments of the house. We will be back again in the future and will recommend to all our friends.
A 30th birthday made perfect by KB!. I decided on KB for my 30th birthday dinner this past Saturday the 7th, since it’s local and I had been there once a long time ago, I thought it would be a lovely night.There was 12 of us in the party, reservations were made quite a bit in advance. When we got there they were setting up a long table with candles in the back room, no problem, my guests and I had drinks at the bar (the main room is open concept). After being seated it was from that moment until the moment we left three hours later that our evening was absolutely incredible. From management, to waiters, bar staff and the kitchen, everything was perfect. The food is incredible, the attentiveness to my guests and I was spot on! They brought out 12 shots (an extra tequila for the birthday girl!) for all of us on the house, a gesture that was surprising and so sweet! I can’t praise this restaurant enough, honestly. I will be back time and time again, without hesitation. Go. Go eat here, take your time, enjoy the atmosphere. It’s perfect.
Extremely disappointing customer service!. We had reservations for two for our anniversary and were excited to try this place out for the first time. The restaurant had two rooms. The front room was virtually empty (it was early) but the back room was completly taken up by a party but for one table set for two people. Notwithstanding the entire front of the restaurant was virtually empty, they refused to let us sit anywhere else. We attempted to sit in the back room but it was incredibly awkward especially when some of the party guests started asking us we were. We decided to leave and the restaurant staff didn’t even try to stop us or offer us some alternative or option. They were really just rude and arrogant! Our anniversary was ruined – of course it was too late to get a reservation anywhere else – so we had to drive all around to find an alternative and ended up having to wait nearly an hour to get seated somewhere else. This establishment will not be getting my business!
It’s not bad, just not worth a second visit.Average food, above average prices, and incredibly noisy.
