A lovely visit. Chose to visit after reading it online. They emphasize the local, what is available, and changing menu; and the list is more extensive than we would have expected. Went to celebrate a birthday. We had the blue cheese stuffed fig, wrapped in bacon as the appetizer. A little small for the price (2 pieces), but I guess figs are expensive and with all the work that went into prepping the little mouthfuls… Still, we had finished it before our waitress had even come by to ask us how it was – she seemed surprised but for the size, who could be? The appetizers overall seemed a little small; not meant for sharing really. With a group, you would definitely need to order multiples of the same item for everyone to have a taste. For mains we had the elk (moist, tender, really smoky flavours), and the duck breast (juicy) with an excellent gnocchi (light and pillowy). Finally someone who can make a good gnocchi! The other side (I think it was a puree of celeriac and another item I cannot recall) was a little too sweet for my liking and didn’t seem to compliment the other flavours quite as nicely with the duck, considering there was already a sweet potato based sauce on the plate. We overcame this with dessert – for $20 you could combine any three desserts or cheese options. The desserts were the regular size too, and delicious. Salted caramel was not overly salty which was nice; the creme brulee was average, but the real winner was an unassuming vanilla cake — it came with out warm with melted cream on the side – like a slightly, but not too sweet fresh bread with butter. Delicious!Good drink selections, some things were out of stock, but the wait staff was definitely friendly. We heard them ask some other patrons the reason for their visit – they did not ask us; it would have been nice to share. But, as we told them it was our first time, they really played up the menu. A good place. We saw lots of other couples, people with friends and family, and even those with tween+ kids. Don’t be put off with the artwork as it is not indicative of the overall food and ambiance.

I’ve visited KB multiple times and I always leave happy. When I visit I usually will pick a meat dish with an appetizer. This visit I had the Pork Chop. The meat was beautifully cooked and an amazing sauce. For an appetizer we had the cheese board. The atmosphere is great, and the service is excellent. KB is on the expensive side, be prepared to spend some money. Also the menu constantly changes, which makes it hard to recommend a specific dish to someone.
