  Wish I could give a review of the food. So I have wanted to try out Bistro at the River for some time now. Last night while I was walking the waterfront decided to stop in and see if the place could live up to my expectations. We went inside and were told right away there was no room inside only patio seating is available. From the appearance there is more seating outside the building then inside so we had no issue and were brought outside to a patio seat. Only about half the tables at people at them and there were 4 waitresses outside and 2 or 3 inside. Of the 4 outside I only noticed one going from table to table talking to the customers. Two were just refilling water glasses. The last one was only bringing people to tables and talking to the other 3 girls. My girlfriend and I sat there for about 10 minutes before one of the waitresses brought us over menus and water. another 10 minutes went by before she came back to ask us what drinks we wanted. 3 more parties had showed up and sat down from the point of us getting menus till now, and one of those groups received their drinks before we did. I started complaining slightly loud trying to get the waitresses attention about being hungry after the walk we had taken and hoping they take our order soon. The waitress came over to the two people next to us who showed up 15 or so minutes after us. I commented to my girlfriend that we had been there about a half hour at this point and no one had taken our order but this couple who showed up after us gets theirs. We thought that maybe they were getting drinks taken care of first till the gentleman started pointing at things on the menu and the waitress wrote something down took the menus and left. At this point I was pissed off that after sitting for a half hour none of the 4 waitresses had come to take our order and the two that were apparently dedicated water fillers had not come to refill our waters, so I took some money out and set it on the table. The wait staff came out with food and brought it to our table confusing both my girlfriend and I. Customers from a different tabled waved at them saying that they think that is their food. Good thing the customers noticed cause I have a feeling the wait staff would have taken an hour to figure out their mistake. I pointed out that these people were there before we showed up and I never saw them put in an order so if our order is ever taken it looks like 45 minutes to an hour before our food will show up after that. I started trying to wave the waitress down to pay for our drinks so we could leave and she walked past us to a table of 5 that showed up a few minutes ago and they all left mumbling something about the menu. The waitress then walked to our table and asked if we were ready to order. I responded by saying not anymore I just want to pay and leave. Handed her some money and we waited another 4 to 5 minutes for her to return with the change. She never did, just came out with drinks for other tables and taking more orders, we got pissed off and left. Wish I could have reviewed the food. We showed up at 6:30 and left at 7:49 and only saw one table get food. I’m not sure anyone there last night was able to give a review on the food. I will never be going there again.

  Food was okay, a little salty in some cases. Service was lacking in the waitress we had. Had to ask multiple times for beverages, could never flag her down. Seemed like we were waiting for her all the time.

  Food good. But waitresses need update!!!!. The food is good, a lil overpriced but great spot by riverside. I think it was the owner who was very nice and asked my friends and I how we enjoyed our food. my friend was gonna tell him about the awful service but the waitress was right there.. the waitresses r very slow and forgetful.. I’m not really sure y it’s so hard to find a pleasant waiter/waitress these days

  Disappointing. The food was good but the service was terrible. Waitress was nowhere to be seen when we needed her, spent 20 minutes waiting for the bill after we asked her to bring it over.

  Hidden gem. Arrived on a Friday night with no reservations (large wedding party in that night) but they squeezed us in anyways. Very attentive and delightful server, food was amazing (salads large and filling, enough for a meal, especially with delicious salmon added on top). Great uninterupted view of the river (all restaurants on the south side of Riverside view the traffic passing by whereas at Bistro at the River you see the ships on the river moving past. Especially nice on a warm beautiful night in May, with all the surrounded gardens in full bloom. Will definitely go again.

  Disgusting. Ordered the calamari and was disappointed with the over abundance of sauce. Made a comment to the waitress about this and decided on a Caesar salad. When she brought the salad, the chef was obviously ticked off that somebody would reject his plate and sent the salad out with almost a cup of salad dressing on top! Beyond disgusting behaviour! Will not only NOT return, will make sure all my fellow sales associates know not to go there also!

  An absolutely perfect evening! Atmosphere, service, and food were exceptional. We were a party of 7. Ordered 7 different dinners and each one was a work of art. Richard Diaz the chef was personable and a master in his kitchen. Thank you for making our night out perfect.
