I went here for my birthday and Winterbites. Overall, I was not too impressed with the food. I can’t say much for their regular menu, but the appetizers, entres, and desserts from the Winterbites menu were disappointing. Together with my friends, I think we were able to sample most of the Winterbites selection and none of them are to rave about. Dishes were salty and lacked in depth and flavour. My entre of potatoes and chicken felt like one big pile of mush; it would have been more interesting with some contrasting texture or flavours. The appetizer salad was mostly red onions. The cauliflower fritters from their main menu was not bad. The eggplant parmasean was purely eggplant (no pasta) and one-dimensional in flavour. In term of desserts, notice the pathetically tiny size of that pie slice, which by the way, tasted exactly like the chocolate cake but with crust (I’m pretty sure they just used the same filling).The atmosphere was nice enough, but I definitely wouldn’t go back for the food. However, this is just based mainly on their Winterbites menu; I’m not sure how representative it is of their main menu.

Now, I went with someone so we had the willistead burger, lamb burger and strawberry cheesecake. The willistead burger had neon green sauce, which was really alarming, but good. The lamb burger on the other hand had taziki sauce that was horrible on it. At least the fries with red pepper mayo made up for the burger. The cheesecake was good, but not mind blowingA bit over hyped, but good for a quick meal.
Good atmosphere, good service, great food. I love when restaurants take classic items and give them a unique twist. Particularly when that twist is relevant to where the restaurant is located. The Willistead has done this to perfection. The next time I’m in town for business I’ll be making another visit.
Over-hyped. We dropped by this place on Saturday afternoon. I do not appreciate having to speak loudly to my companion to enjoy conversation/meal when the music is blaring. This is not a nightclub.It took almost two hours to have our lunch, service was extremely slow. Two other couples were sitting at the table, and there were three people at the bar. This is not busy, so no excuse for it.Over priced and overhyped. I will not say it is bad food, but its very trendy, and you really don’t get value for the money.
Walked Away. I been here a few times now. Food is creative and very nicely executed. Went back on a Sunday afternoon with my wife and baby son for a drink and an appetizer and was completely ignored by the server. It could not have been an accident because she served two tables before us when we had clearly arrived first . There were only four tables on the patio. This is not the first time I’ve experienced terrible service here. It’s too bad. I live close by and it’s a great place for a snack.
