The service was actually good, waitresses were attentive and brought items out as soon as they came out. Some hot foods were definitely warm but thats fine, I’m not particularly picky. However if we go by just taste, the sushi items were definitely a miss. Sushi Items were under seasoned and weren’t very clean you can see black and white fluffs on half of the items you ordered. Salmon, beef and chicken teriyakis came out feeling more microwaved then cooked on a teppanyaki top. Most foods were too oily and used the same salty teriyaki sauce that tasted like reduced soy sauce leaving a oil film on the back of your throat for days.Average :Desserts, and fried appetizers.Below average: Sushi, pan fried items, fried rice, udon, soups, and salads. Not fresh at all. Higher price, low quality.

Walking in to Akita you immediately see up to date furniture that is rather new by the looks of it and isn’t too loud at all. A waitress is ready to seat you once entered and drinks arrive soon after. I have been to Akita numerous times with family and friends, because of the All-You-Can-Eat option or a la carte, I personally find this spot a good choice as it has a variety of sushi and kitchen foods that can accommodate non sushi lovers as well. I personally have found the waitresses to be rather efficient and yes at times certain selections can take some time but I don’t find that to be a problem when ordering throughout the varieties each round. Another aspect to Akita that I enjoy is not having to pay for the few extra sushi pieces that don’t get finished.

Went here for a birthday dinner last night. Service was fast and efficient and ambiance was nice. There is a 30% discount for birthday person on actual day and 15% for whole table. Ordered the salmon and white tuna sashimi, shrimp and vegetable tempura, and a lot of spicy salmon sushi. Found a piece of hair on the salmon sushi on the first plate of food. Also, ordered the coconut shrimp which took forever to come out. Had to ask the waitresses twice.Coming out, felt okay as I have been here before. The worst part was when I got home. The food did not digest properly and I think I caught food poisoning as I couldn’t sleep the whole night with a stomach ache and constant trips to the bathroom. Used to think it was a great place, now I’m never going back.

We used to go at least once a month. The food is good and adequately priced. There are plenty of options to choose from and the food comes out to the table pretty fast. The place inside is really nice. Unfortunately, we do not enjoy the service at Akita. On a few occasions, our server would forget to put in our order or would bring the wrong thing. Overall, the servers we have had didn’t appear to want to be there and seemed quite disengaged. At the end, the tip is automatically added to the bill, which may be the reason why the servers don’t try hard. To all guests, you are not obligated to pay for the added tip. You have the right to decline it or adjust it.

I wish it was like it used to be. The food is pretty good, better than many other japanese restaurants in the area. However my parents discovered this place and they used to go twice a week but it is no longer the case. Whenever i go with them I am never impressed with the service. There is a mandatory tip added to the final bill and it feels like the wait staff doesn’t see any of it. They always drag their feet and look depressed. Perhaps if it was the old system where the waiter would actually earn their tip it would be better and we would once again become frequent customers.

Missing something…. First night we went to Akita. We have been to a number of AYCE sushi places, and this one unfortunately rates fairly low on the list. Unlike the rest of the reviewers, we found the service to be average for AYCE places. Here’s what needs to change to get this place somewhere near the competition:1) More menu items, and clearly mark which options are vegetarian or spicy. 2) Need to add a tablet menu or at least a paper where customers can jot down their order. Part of the ‘fun’ of the AYCE locals are skimming through a long list of different items trying to determine what you haven’t tried yet. At Akita, the server waits for you and takes down your order. This could also slow down service for the rest of the restaurant. 3) Food quality needs to improve. The rice did not seem too fresh tonight (maybe it was an off night however due to a winter storm).4) Dessert menu is basic. Again, the competition is just above and beyond here. 5) Plastic cutlery…..Not fun to drink miso soup with a plastic fork. 6) 10% tip. Ok I am divided on this one. I can understand not wanting to get short changed by some ‘forgetful’ customers, but tip should always be an option. Its not a mandatory tax. If you want more increase the price of the food, but a forced tip is always disappointing. Also, I think most customers will give more with good service. All in all we wont be back unless we hear something has drastically changed. The place is nice inside, so I hope the owners look into some changes to really compete out there.

Terrible Service. My boyfriend and I went for dinner. The waiter was a sweetheart, but when the bill came we noticed she had added 10% tip. Honestly, that is just pathetic! We were gonna tip her but for her to add 10% and add that tip to the total of our bill is just terrible customer service. Worst ethics! Disappointed!
