Disapponinted. When my husband and I go to St Jacobs we always go to the Harvest Moon, and this time when we went we were so disappointed the food was not good, and it always has been. I asked, has new owners taken over? and the waitress said no. Well what happened? WE WILL NEVER GO BACK, it was that bad, please get your old Chef back, he was so good, by the way it was not busy.
Nice atmosphere, food is OK. My wife and I decided to drive up to the village of St. Jacobs this week to eat at the Harvest Moon restaurant, just up the hill from the main street. This restaurant still offers Greek fare (as this website indicates), but only nominally. It has a typical diner menu with burgers, soups, meatloaf, clubs, and breakfasts. The place is nicely decorated and the staff incredibly welcoming. My wife had the soup special (chicken noodle, really thick and tasty) and a Western sandwich, while i opted for the hot hamburger sandwich with gravy, one of my favourites in Southern Ontario restaurants. Aside from the soup, we were both somewhat disappointed, although the servings were HUGE. The hamburger patty was overcooked and hard, the Western was dry. It wasn’t a disaster, but it should have been much better for the price. Also the owner/manager likes to circulate between tables and assess customers’ satisfaction. I found that constant overlooking a bit awkward and unnecessary. All in all, there are better diners in the vicinity, such as the Daily Grill in North Waterloo. Much better food, same prices.
