I need to share the horrible experience my wife and I had at Homestyle Bakery in Beaconsfield this morning. We have been going to Homestyle for over 10 years. We considered it one of our favourite places. We ordered eggs over easy. My wife received her eggs over cooked (they were golden brown!). We politely asked the waitress if she can have the eggs re-done. She took the plate back. When she brought back the plate, the eggs were still over cooked and one yoke was broken. The toast, bacon and potatoes were cold. We politely complained. The waitress apologized (She was very nice) and took back the plate. A few minutes later the cook/owner came out and said he was not making the eggs again. He said there was nothing wrong with them the first time. We told him that the eggs were over cooked….he didn’t care what we had to say and was very rude. We were very upset and replied that we can make the eggs better ourselves. He told the waitress not to charge my wife’s plate. We then noticed the other owner and asked to speak to him. We started to explain what happened and the other owner/cook came out and asked us to leave! He obviously doesn’t take criticism very well. In over 26 years in the Food & Beverage industry, I have never been so badly treated. He does not know how to treat his clients. Sorry to say but we will never step foot in that place again!!
Much improved with new chef in pub. We have been regulars at this restaurant often on for several years. What became clear a couple of years ago was the quality of the food had dropped dramatically, and likewise 36 devices. By chance we give it another try the other night. The food was much much better, and the server noted that they had hired a new chef. No more frozen food and a really decent buffalo chicken sandwich available once again.
