El Meson is a fair bet for a quick bite for Tex Mex food lovers at reasonable prices. They have the whole gambit of Mexican food to please anyone and a few house specialities. Try the creamy chunky guacamole it is decent and is served with thick nacho chips . The Chicken & Beef tacos are also good, served with rice, chayote salad and re-fried beans as a side. Portions are not huge but satisfactory.This restaurant will not win any awards for fine dining or decor, The interior is rather dark and depressing. It is a casual place that has a terrace that is very popular in the summer. It is rather small but because it is across from the lake it will make for great terrace dining or afternoon drinks. They serve frozen margaritas and sangria, but not the best I have ever had.Go on off hours as it gets crowded. Reservations are required ,unless you do not mind waiting. Vert bad enchiladas dtremp……… Fromage tellement dur..comme si il tait rest sur le rchaud pendant des heures..le service est aussi pire…la serveuse tait fch que je lui montre le plat ignoble que j’avais en face de moi..ils m’ont charg et sans excuse..terrible
Last night, I wanted to introduce my friend to El Meson since he was a fan of Mexican food and had never tried it there. We arrived at 7:30, very hungry. We were seated at a dirty table that the waiter came to clean once we sat down. We were tossed 2 menus and did not even have utensils on the table. After 45 minutes of sitting there, the waiter finally came to ask for our order. I ordered vegetarian enchiladas and my friend ordered steak tacos. I also ordered a corona that took 20 minutes to get. After a long wait, our meal finally came, it was at this point 8:45. We also had to ask for utensils. When he brought my dish it was chicken enchiladas when I specifically said vegetarian since I am a vegetarian (this is not the first time it happens either) I mentioned politely to the waiter that my order was incorrect and he said that he was sorry and that it would be on the house.Another 15 minutes of waiting, at this point my friend was done his meal, mine came and it was ok. Portions are not that great for the price you pay and they lack flavour. We finished our meal and I asked for the bills. The whole evening, the waiter practically ignored my friend and I, was rude to us and we had to call him over if we wanted things… he never came to check on us during our entire time there to ask how things were or fill our water glasses.When the bills came, my meal with the beer was charged… however he said it would be on the house. I was very upset about this but just wanted to get the hell out of there since we had other plans later that night, so I did not make fuss.Horrible experience, very rude waiters and food is just ok, not worth what you pay at all. I would also like to add that the waiters seem to be nicer with the French people at the restaurant and rude to the english ones; based on my observations that night.Never returning!

Authentic. The bad reviews on this website are most likely from people who think 3 Amigos is good Mexican food. You won’t find hard shell tacos or cheap ground beef drowned in cumin at El Meson. What you’ll find are authentic dishes. I’ve eaten here a dozen times and I’m never disappointed. Disregard the bad reviews because they clearly have no idea what they’re talking about. If you want Mexican, go to El Meson. If you want Old El Paso, just stay home.
