Had an amazing sushi experience despite this restaurant being tiny. The service is quick and the variety of sushi leaves you speechless and almost indecisive!!
From the outside, this place looks like any other sushi restaurant you’ve ever been with the same sushi menu, same byow concept. However, this is where the comparisons stop. Their chef has impressed me time after time with his original creations. Forget about your usual sushi orders and ask for the chef’s choice. You will be in awe.
AMAZING RESTAURANT!!!. We got an amazing experience at Uni Sushi. The food was EXCELLENT and the service was really friendly. We couldnt ask for more! We didnt know that its was bring your own wine though. Its by far the best sushi restaurant in the south shore.
Terrible service, terrible food.. I’m not sure how this restaurant got such good reviews. After reading them we decided to go try it out. We walked in, and were immediately met by waiters who didn’t look like they much liked anyone. They asked us if we had reservations, and when we said no – they seated us in the worst table in the place. It felt like a closet. I would have understood this if the restaurant had been at all busy, there were only 3 other people in the whole place.Still, I thought – some, very good, restaurants hire rude waiters to give the impression of exclusivity. I actually began to get a bit excited, because in many cases, this means that the food is good. I don’t mind being insulted a bit if the food makes up for it in the end. Maybe the next time I’ll make reservations and come back wearing a suit, it’s always nice to have someplace nice to go that gives you an excuse to dress up.I ordered the seafood miso soup, and some of our favorite sushi, as I was there with my girlfriend. After 3 months in Tokyo last year, we have become a lot more picky about sushi, it is – truthfully – on a very different level there, I have never experienced anything close to it anywhere else in the world that I’ve been. That said, the miso soup at Uni Sushi? I’ve never walked out of a restaurant without finishing my appetizer before. The fish was more than a few days past fresh. The broth was not anywhere near being a miso broth, and the overall flavor was completely disgusting. I nearly threw up on my plate. After leaving I immediately went to a convenience store and bought something to drink. It took over an hour to wash the horrible flavor out of my mouth. It was my worst restaurant experience in the Montreal area.I can forgive poor service, even being insulted, if the food is good. I can never forgive bad food. and when you combine the two, bad service and bad food, I’m not sure how you can expect to stay in business.
I’ve tried pretty much all the sushi places on the south shore and Unisushi is definitely the best. An absolute gem!!!
Honestly.. Ive been to a lot of sushi places and this is the best sushi spot.Super afordable, very fresh, intimate service.Ask for Anh Hai. He makes incredible sushi creations specific to what you like.
Best sushi of my ENTIRE LIFE. This place looks like any other sushi restaurant outside, but, inside, it’s a little paradise. The cooks are AMAZING, professional, very nice, just like the waiters. The food is insane, you taste the sky at each piece of sushi you eat. I tried a lot of sushi restaurant… and this one is always at the top of my list… always! Try the Chef’s choice once, and I can assure you it’s going to be the best sushi of your life!
