Change of owners and chef. I had heard negative reviews but as is alwAys the case. Try something before you judge. I thoroughly enjoyed the new menu and food. Salad, duck was amazing. In fact every meal I had was delicious. Congrats to Ryan and Reid!!
The place is packed on weekend evenings, get a reservation. The food is absolutely delicious, I loved all the 4 dishes I got to try, but the price rating is right, it gets very pricy very fast! Expect to get 3 dishes to feel full.
My family and I came across Carambola two weeks ago, Sunday May 17, on a day trip to Hudson. Service was friendly and helpful – it was evident the waitress knew the menu inside out and genuinely enjoyed the food she was serving. We took her advice and went with the Seared Tuna on Asian Salad from the menu, and the Jalapeo Cheddar Burger and the Seared Tuna Steam Buns, from the specials board. The food came out quickly, was beautifully presented and was delicious. We would have licked our plates clean if there hadn’t been so many people around!My only complaint would be that the atmosphere didn’t really make sense. The decor of the restaurant is rustic-meets-modern, with a young, vibrant staff, and yet the music was dreadful and almost depressing. It seemed like a compilation of songs from amateur night at the heartbreak lounge. Some upbeat music would have really livened the place up.Regardless, we will definitely be back!
Went last week.Not Bad….. bit expensive….the deco is a bit cold….My husband took a special tapas…..with hot dog bunn !!!! Crazy !Not very good….and not chik ..we told the girl…she said …sorry ! had the tapas steak was good. !!! Small plates ! Expnsive 16$ each.Will not go back ! Bye
Excellent but pricy!. The food was very good but i found it expensive!
Divine experience !. Even though it was a bit far, it was worth the try ! We asked to sit at the bar, where we can see the kitchen and talk to the Scott, the cook. Our whole dinner was made of tapas so we could split everything and have a taste of different things. BEST. IDEA. EVER. We ordered about 7 tapas including the soup for the two of us and I was full before the 7th. Bring your own wine.. Even better.
Not in the same class as Montreal. We went a couple years ago but haven’t been back. I don’t remember what we had exactly but do recall that the appetizer had a similar sauce to our main dish although 2 different foods! Unimpressed by the slow service. Never went back. Not likely to give it a 2nd try.02 Mar, 2015Tasted all the same. We went a couple years ago and the menu was different. Our appetizer and main dish had very similar tasting sauces and spice so it felt like the same dish. The service wasn’t good. We waited a long time until we could order and had tio ask for water. 20 mins later our food came. We couldn’t hear ourselves talk as it’s so noisy. We never went back. Very over priced for what it is. I don’t mind paying anything for awesome food but this was mediocre for the price.
