Steak Tartare review. On Thursday Oct.30th, 6 girlfriends got together for lunch, four of us specifically for the Steak Tartare. We were on a fun mission to find the best in Ottawa and area. We thoroughly enjoyed the place and our waitress Jeny was very sweet. The tartare was excellant in terms of taste and quantity and very nicely presented. It did not get a 10 because we all agreed the colour was off. I think too much paprika , that took away from the rich colour of the meat. So,because of that I will give it a 9. Still a good review. Le pied de cochon. Rapport qualit prix, trs difficile battre. The food is great and serve hot !!! For approx. 35$, you can get a table d’hote, I mean that’s pretty reasonable I think anyways. Le manger est toujours frais et trs dlicieux.

Best value for French cuisine yet. NB – this is NOT the Pied de Cochon in Montreal. Nor has it any affiliation.I have been dining here for years and am never disappointed. The menu has remained the same and I know why – if it ain`t broke, don`t mess with it.I always get the same thing – lobster bisque appetizer is creamy and has large pieces of lobster. Rich and buttery. Seasonal salad with hot goat cheese is sinfully good. A great not-too-salty goat cheese coated in crumbs and just warm enough. Paired with walnuts and cranberries. Through a generous size, I always want more. Breast of duck de Barbarie with raspberry honey is the best duck I`ve had outside of Paris. Crispy skin, not too much fat (cause it`s so good you eat it all and that`s not very healthy! lol). Maple creme brule – I have yet to have a better creme brule anywhere. And their new technique brings it to you still en flame. What a fun presentation! On a service note, I am a bilingual anglophone. This is one of the few places I`ve been to in Quebec where they seem to appreciate (or at least tolerate) my choice to be served in (and practice my) French. They don`t automatically switch to English for me. They`ll even talk to me in French and other guests in the same party in English. So nice!I highly recommend this restaurant if you want a wonderful fine dining experience, but don`t want to break the bank. A three course table d`hote is about $40. You can`t beat it.
