Really nice place to try. Some dishes are amazing… the oignon soup, the trout was exceptionnal. A little disapointed about the lamb … but others at our table liked it. The citrus desert was the best one I had in a long time. Wine list is perfect ! Great place to try
Love love love. An amazing culinary experience. Tiny place with excellent service (staff of 2, including the chef). Each dish is presented tastefully: there are about 2 appetizers, and 4 main dishes to choose from, but the menu changes frequently. We had the Foie Gras (Signature dish) for desert and it was to die for. Flavors are superb ! Had an amazing time and it was worth every penny. If possible try to reserve at least 3 weeks in advance as seating is very limited.
This is a small restaurant run by two guys, Ben (chef) and Vincent. We managed to get a table by booking about 3 weeks ahead of time and we had an excellent time! I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting or residing in QC City. Vincent made an excellent and enthusiastic host. He gave a nice introduction to their restaurant and what they’re about. The service was fantastic!Every dish we ordered was well done. You could tell the chef carefully thought about every detail of the dishes by finding the right playful balance between flavours and textures. Though the menu seemed to favour red meats, we were not disappointed with the delicate trout appetizer we had. Their onion soup was also very flavourful, and wasn’t made with your typical beef stock. My pet peeve with good restaurants is when they give up on the quality of their desserts. However, this is not the case with iX Pour Bistro. I would highly recommend the cake with fois gras shaved on top. It tastes like unicorn tears. I was a little skeptical when Vincent described the dessert, it sounded more savoury than I would have preferred, but I was taken by surprise when I tasted it. It was sensational and would have gladly eaten a second serving if my belly would have allowed it.I think this restaurant is a fantastic concept and I would visit again. One thing they could improve on would be the presentation of the dishes while maintaining the taste because that was spot on! I am excited to see how this young chef will progress.
Great, cozy place. There are only a few tables in the place and the server takes the time to explain each dish (4 apps, 4 mains to choose from, + dessert). The chef took the time to present each dish and follow up. It is not pretentious, just really good food. My gf and I had 2 apps (onion soup and scallops) both were excellent. We followed it up with 2 mains (hanger steak and trout) again both were great. We were able to cut the steak with a butter knife – always a good sign. We were both full and had no room for dessert. The above meal with a bottle of wine came to $125 w/tax. We found this was very reasonable for the quality of food, excellent service, and overall experience. I definitely recommend,
Great find away from tourist area. Do yourself a favor when you’re in Quebec City: Hop into a cab and take the short 8 min cab ride from the Old town to iX pour Bistro. We did just that based on strong reviews we read and boy, were we glad we did! The restaurant is small, but very charming, with a nice vibe and great music. Benoit was extremely friendly and forthcoming, explained the menu to us and answered any questions we had. Best of all, of course, was the food Benoit makes sure to add small twists to his dishes and elevates what would be a great dish to begin with to something that is truly amazing. This is a great restaurant. We’ll be back, that’s for sure!
Delicious!. IX pour Bistro proposes one of the best food in Quebec-city! The menu is rich of flavours, colours, travels. The chief travelled in different in different parts of the world and brought back a lot of surprising tastes. For those who like travelling while eating…
