I really liked icehouse but felt it was a tad bit pricey for what it was. I get that it’s a bit of a chic hipster joint but I still don’t think the food, while good, is not quite worth the price. 4/5 would go again at some point but isn’t at the top of my picks.
Icehouse is a super fun and unique dining experience. Buckets of juicy, flavourful, crispy fried chicken literally get dumped on your table in a messy family style. The location is quite small and so I would recommend going in warmer seasons to take advantage of the cute terrace.
Mmmm! a fait longtemps que je voulais aller chez Icehouse! Chose faite! Je ne regrette pas du tout mon exprience! J’ai apprci tout ce que j’ai command! Les tacos au poisson (2 pour 8$) sont excellents, car le poisson est croustillant souhait! Petite recommandation pour les dguster : mettez un peu de tabasco au habanero! 😉 noter que les tacos ne viennent pas avec les jalapenos comme on peut le voir sur ma photo (c’est un extra de 1$). Le po boy aux hutres (14$) tait parfait, les crevettes popcorn (12$) sont agrablement sucres (pas trop) et les jalapenos farcis au crabe (10$), wow, j’en aurais mangs beaucoup plus! Excellente limonade bourbon (10$). Bref, trs hte d’y retourner l’t pour profiter de la jolie terrasse! Le service est impeccable! Bon apptit!
I was very excited to go there because im a fan of fried chicken and i saw a post on MTL Blog sayin it is a go to spot for fried chicken. So i went there it’s a small place and the owner is very friendly, he explained the menu which is on a chalk board but my decision was made long ago ! So i went for some shrimp popcorn as an appetizer and the main dish was fried chicken bucket along with a buttermilk biscuit and a potato salad. It was up to my expectation no doubt. The second time i got me some crab cakes and some heavenly delicious ribs. The sauce was finger lickin good. I recommend no doubt..during the summer time it can be quite busy tho so a small waiting line but totally worth it.
Disappointing experience. I went with two friends and we had the jalapeo poppers and the fried chicken bucket, which comes with potato salad, coleslaw and a biscuit. The jalapeo poppers, although tiny, were amazing: flavourful, spicy, original. I could have eaten ten. The chicken however, was flavourless. It did have a very crunchy crust but that was about it. It had no taste and was a bit dry. All three of us agreed. Given the prices and the hype around this place, I was expecting a lot more. The sides were very average and we didn’t even finish them. The only exception being the biscuit as it was tender and flavourful ($6 for one!)The food was dumped in the middle of the table over some paper which is fine but we had no plates so it got very messy very fast. The ambience was nice but 70% of the food was a miss. The place is small and very crowded. Service was rushed but pleasant. I don’t think I would go back.
We absolutely LOVE this place. My husband refuses to eat anything but the popcorn shrimp and chili fries. I love the portobello tacos and have recently discovered the green sauce on the oysters. They have to bottle that and sell it!!!! I poured it on my tacos too.
Un de mes restos de prdilection pour manger une bonne bouche, mais aussi pour prendre une Bourbon lemonade. La petite terrasse avec les lumires est tout simplement magnifique et donne envie de stager des photos. Les serveurs sont amicals, ont un bon vivant et sont toujours prt recommander un plat. Mon prf des prfs c’est les POPCORN SHRIMPS parce que a a pas de bon sens comment c’est bon. Je pourrais seulement commander ce plat pour le reste de ma vie et je serais contente. Je conseille +++.
