We were there on a Friday. The service was prompt, attentive and friendly. We both had the table d’hte, which was a good value. We also tried the Japanese soda (I had Yuzu), which was delicious and worth the $6. My companion has travelled to Japan several times and he said this was the most authentic Japanese dining experience he’s had in Montreal.
Super rude. Horrible service. Went there on a Saturday night and they didn’t have any spots for us. We reserved the seats right away. It was very crowdy inside so we decided to wait outside. The waiter said yes and asked for my phone so he will call me whenever the reserved seats are available. The end of the story was he NEVER called and when we came back and found out some other ppl took our seats. We asked him but he just acted like we never made the reservation and he didn’t even apologize. Come on, I know that it cost you extra work to call and inform us, but if you promised your customer, why would you igonore us like that. If you can’t let us reserve it, why don’t you tell us in the first place? We were all hungry that day and we waited for almost 30 mins for our seats because we trusted the reservation system. We will NEVER go again. You should never trade your customer like this!

Sweet service. The lady who works there is super nice. she spoke japanese with me for taking the order of my friend and mine.food? good and heart warming. Not too expensive unless you start buying alcohol. She would refill our sake glasses right away. So nice! gyoza is good.
Very nice Beef Shabu Shabu. Must try the Beef Shabu Shabu Combo, very tender.
Am I missing something?. I really don’t understand why this restaurant gets 91%. Maybe I’m missing something? We found the food bland and really uninspiring. We didn’t get a seat at the bar unfortunately and had to sit at one of the kindergarten tables. Didn’t really enjoy the experience and found the food annoying in general to try and eat! Also, they might want to put some kind of signage up out the front – you don’t even notice that it’s there.
Kagayaki shabushabu is probably one of the best restaurants in Chinatown. There is a good selection of different types of meet, fish, or vegetable types of shabushabu, and the set menu options give you a lot of food for the price. The service was quick, and the waiters/waitresses were all very polite. The restaurant has a nice layout and pleasant general atmosphere.
