Came here with a colleague, it was late in the evening and nearing last call. Ordered two bowls of ramen and both were well portioned and flavorful. The noodles were well cooked but not the ramen noodle I am accustomed to. Nevertheless, this is a good spot for ramen if thats what you are in the mood for.
Bon, je ne suis pas une grande fan de ramen, mais a fait longtemps que je voulais essayer Sumo Ramen. J’ai pris ramen avec du porc et du kim chi. J’ai t agrablement surprise par le bouillon shoyu qui n’est pas trop gras et qu’il soit savoureux. Mon amie a pris le bouillon Kombu (bouillon vg avec un petit got de gingembre) et elle a tripp. Bon revenons mon ramen. Le kim chi n’tait pas pic comme celui de la Core, mais il donnait du got ma soupe. Le porc est tendre et j’ai aim le gras autour. Plus jeune, je n’aimais pas la graisse. La seule chose qui manque pour que le plat soit parfait mon got, ce sont les nouilles instantanes. Je sais que je ne suis pas une puriste, mais j’aime l’lasticit de cette pte. J’ai t due de mon bun avec du porc. Le porc tait mince et la pte ne me semblait pas maison. Aussi, 6,50$, je m’attendais mieux. Je vous conseille seulement les ramens. Les entres sont chres et moins bien excutes.Pourquoi on y va:-pour un ramen qu’on peut personnaliser au niveau du bouillon, des ptes et des ingrdients.-pour un bon petit repas petit prix
Terrible! Nothing is done right, they shouldn’t use the word ramen in the name. The broth tastes like water, the pork was like boiled without seasoning, noodles are the dry ones bought in stores, the and egg is well-done with no flavor. So I cancelled my extra egg after they forgot to bring it. And of course as consequence the cashier rolled her eyes on me after I payed (with tips!) I say just don’t go, what a waste of time and money!
Sumo Ramen is easily one of the best ramen restaurants I’ve been to. I ordered the okonomiyaki to start and it was expertly done. The flavours were rich and bright, the only downside was the piece of wax paper on the bottom of the pancake which found its way into a few bites. The ramen itself was well balanced in flavour, and the noodle/topping/soup ratio was spot on. The egg could have been a tad runnier but it was overall a fantastic meal. 0 regrets. I’ll be back for sure.
Pretty decent Japanese place in chinatown. The menu is varied so it’s not just ramen, I personally was more impressed with my side order of eel than my ramen itself. Fish was super fresh, ramen was just OK, nothing special.
Pretty good ramen for the price. Place looks cheap but everything we had tasted good and fresh. Worth visiting. Fyi you pay at the counter.
The first ramen house in chinatown. Located upstairs. No decor, not much service. Creative list of ramen options but finally a little on the ordinary side once the food shows up. (You kinda wish you were in Vancouver all of a sudden.) At least the gyoza are pretty good.
