  I feel as if I have been touring all of the best ice cream parlours quite thoroughly this summer, and my tour wouldn’t be complete without visiting a certain popular spot in Outremont, just a short walk from my house. Bilboquet is an adorable place that opened in 1983 and has now expanded to six different locations, however the one closest to me is the original. This shop was voted #1 Best Ice Cream 2013 in Cult MTL’s annual poll and was also named in Cult MTL’s Student Survival Guide 2014-2015, calling it one of the best places for Sweets + Desserts in the city. Expect to find line-ups out the door!We arrived on a hot Monday evening, and sure enough, the line of people was streaming out of the door and onto the street. So what makes people love this place so much? I believe that it likely has something to do with their unwavering dedication to quality. All of their ice cream and sorbet is handmade and always has been. They only use pure and natural ingredients, such as real milk and cream, fresh fruit, and they never use artificial colourants or additives. They favour local ingredients above all else and take special care in remaining environmentally friendly. It’s easy to want to support a business like this.The shop itself is colourful and inviting. Just look for the ice cream cones on the sign! I loved the silver tin ceiling and the collection of ice cream themed knick-knacks on the walls. The menu is listed on chalk boards and there are a ton of choices.I wanted to try more than one flavour, so I opted for the Gnreux ($5.00) size which includes two different types. I had wanted to get my scoops on a cone, but because it was such a hot day it was recommended to me that I go with a cup instead… Or else risk my ice cream melting right off onto the ground! (This was a very good suggestion.) I chose Maple Syrup (made from 100% maple syrup from Canada) and Honey-Lavender (honey base ice cream with extract of natural lavender), two flavours that definitely speak my language. The maple syrup was incredibly sweet and obviously tasted like it was made from real syrup – the good stuff. Living in this province, this flavour only makes sense. It must be tasted! The honey-lavender featured a beautiful honey flavour, although I found that the lavender was more difficult to detect. Both ice creams were ultra creamy and delicious, and the homemade quality did come though. I want to try many of their other flavours, such as; Chestnut (which is only available in September to December. Although I did visit in September, but they didn’t have it), Brou Ha Ha! (vanilla ice cream with brownies, caramel swirl, pieces of chocolate covered toffee and praline bits), and Maple Taffy (which is only available in March and April).It was a good thing that I got my ice cream in a cup because everything got extremely melty in a hurry because of the hot temperature outside! Bilboquet is open year-round, which is different from many of the other seasonal parlours in the neighbourhood. It might not be my absolute favourite place that I’ve tried, but they do have other flavours that I most definitely need to experience and I love the way that they run their business! erikaeatseverything.com

  Je suis vraiment fcher. La crme glace est trs bonne.Mais ma crme glac cotait 6$ je lui ai donc donne 11$ et je n’ai eu aucun change! Sans quitter le magasin (encor a la caisse) je ralise qu’elle ne m’a rien redonn.Je lui explique donc que je n’ai rien ressu et elle a compltement refuser de me donner mon change! Elle m’a dit de revenir le lendemain et en mme temps elle a changer un regard mesquin avec un employer! Si vous faitent le calcul le bilboquet m’a voler 5$! BANDE D’ARNAQUEUR
