Kitchen Nightmare. Craving tagine and couscous, my sister, mom and I went to Casablanca yesterday at around 7h00 for dinner. We were already up north and decided to give it a try. We were first surprised when we saw that this tiny place held THREE specialty cuisines. We went in a discover an empty, dated and dusty dining room, overloading with furniture. Consequently, the menu forcefully ranged from merguez couscous to penne arrabiata to sirloin – bad sign. We deciced to stick to Morrocan food and ordered our meal to a nice waitress who would be more at ease in a diner serving poutine. Hearing something wrong in the kitchen, she left right in the middle of our order but came back, stating that everything was ok (?)About 2 minutes later, the sous-chef (or dishwasher, who knows) walked into the dining room and told us that the chef blew a fuse (a saut une coche) and that the restaurant would be closing immediately. Another waitress rushed behind him, embarrassed, and told us that there was a ‘problem with the oven’ and calmly advised us to leave. After this peculiar experience and reading the other reviews, we are actually grateful that we weren’t able to eat not even one bite of food that would come out of this kitchen. St-Sauveur needs a good, unpretentious ‘ethnic’ restaurant but this ain’t the place – Gordon Ramsay, are you there ?
Filet mignon was very very good, as was the cheese plate but the sides was from a McCain bag of Frozen vegetables, pasta was no better than Chef Boyardy. Service was sub-par.
Bad Food/Bad Service.. I agree with the two other comments: the food was very disappointing! The couscous was dry (pretty much an abomination in Moroccan cuisine), the salad (two dirty pieces of lettuce and half a tomato) was not something you would expect in a restaurant with that price. The service was also unceremonious to say the least. We were sitting on plastic chairs in a crowded patio where one could not move without touching his or her neighbours and we had to ask the waitress (who later told us to pay a minimum of 15% service fee) three times for water. Dirty toilets too! Dinner there was the only bad thing of a great, great day in Saint-Sauveur1
Pricy and craptastic
Worst restaurant in St-Sauveur and worst Moroccan cuisine ever! Couscous was dry and vegetables were undercooked. I was with four other people who were also not impressed. Kurt abrupt service. Ate here with a dissappointed group a decade ago as well and it wasn’t even good back then.
