Yummy but pricy. I went for dinner with my family, so we were five persons without reservation. We arrived at the restaurant around 7pm on Thursday night and we were able to get a table quite easily. Our waitress arrived quickly with water and the menus. The only thing is I feel she rushed us a little to take orders. The food did in fact arrive quickly on the table. I took the salad with duck two ways, it was really tasty, and there was a lot of salad, only thing not enough salad dressing for my taste and for the price. My mom had the Poutine Coin-Coin and that was really good, probably what Ill get the next time well go. I like the ambiance in the restaurant; it feels a little like home and everybody are just there to have a good time. Great place, we will go back for sure!
We went there for breakfast, and loved it! We had the duck confit crepe and classic egg breakfast. The crepe was very tasty, with perfectly poached egg, great maple butter syrup, and best home fries. My husband said the eggs were the best he ever had. Bacon cooked perfectly, and great raspberry jam. Price was good for quality of food and portions.
Where Local People Eat. This place is terrific – an excellent choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is far enough away from the tourist hub that the clientele seems mostly local business professionals and elegant French women at lunch and a mix of families and couples at dinner. I have a hard time explaining this concept – but the authentic Quebecois experience seems a joyous adoption of life, food, family and professionalism. There tends to be nothing slipshod in the experience and this restaurant is an affordable example of that life experience The food – while not super fancy – is expertly prepared and served fresh, hot and with a beautiful presentation. Portions are ample but not overly large so the attention to detail is evident. I recommend this place at the Maguire location to anyone visiting Quebec City.
