Overpriced for average food. SO …..SO overpriced. What deception. Veggies were cold, the steak was more than average, you get SO MUCH more and SO MUCH better elsewhere, for half the price. If only our server would have been able to smile or be nice….not even. What a shame, this place.
Pretentious!. The food itself was delicious, I had the iceberg salad with Atlantic Cod while my girlfriend had the cream of wild mushroom with the grilled tuna. We have no complaints regarding the culinary skills of the chefs, however I have solemnly seen such awful service. What was supposed to be a romantic, post Valentine’s Day lunch (due to midterms and such) was quickly ruined by their pretentious service. While we did not fit the usual crowd of suits, we were still paying customers looking to indulge in a bit of fine dining. For starters, the waiters didn’t look at us. They did not want to serve us and we had to wait awhile between each course. We were dressed respectfully but were treated like scum. No courtesy, no thank yous, conversation absolutely no manners. Save yourself the feeling of exclusion and go elsewhere. They do not deserve your business with their pretentious attitude. Not impressed!
Great traditional NY style steak house in a suburban location in the mode of La Queue de Cheval, Ruth’s Chris, Morton et all. With a well poured and ample Martini (Im very picky on less than full martinis) and white wine for my date, we started with Malpeque oysters. They were a cool temperature and excellent, but a little saltier than I’ve had before. The white wine as chosen well for the Malpeques. Even though it wasnt on the menu as a separate order, the waiter cheerfully complied to our request for a wedge of iceberg lettuce salad each, with blue cheese dressing. The blue cheese crumbles were standard and good. However, the dressing itself reminded me of a creamy bottled oil and vinegar dressing, rather than a creamy homemade bleu cheese dressing that one would expect from a restaurant of this caliber. We then chose to have the Red Snapper split for 2 and with a kilo of fish was more than enough for us. It was cooked without a lot of spices, so the fish flavor came through nicely. Spinach was delightfully garlicky and buttery. The two big complaints were: one, the waiter consistently seemed to forget us. We couldnt even see him to flag him down. This resulted in waiting 40 minutes after our starter, to order our salad and main course. This was especially disappointing since our previous waiter was attentive and entertaining. His quirky personality reminded me of the great waiters at the NY steakhouses with that dry and witty sense of humor. In fact the previous waiter was one of the reasons we came back and sat at the exact same table. The second was the music. We were at the restaurant 2 weeks ago and told of jazz on Friday nights. So we eagerly booked dinner in the jazz room. Well the band was rockingly good, but far from the Jazz band appropriate to a dinner experience of this quality. So loud, people all over the restaurant were were forced to talk in each others ears to be heard. I thought they were going to move the tables and start the dance club. Alas that was not to be, even though we would have eagerly joined in.
2 words. Pretentious and…. 2 words. Pretentious and overpriced! Want a good steak? Go to gibbys!
Good food, nice ambiance and decor. I had the filet mignon with the baked potato, the steak was cooked to perfection. Very romantic resto.
Great service, was amazing and good food and great recommendations from the staff, his name was Ali. Would go back
Nice restaurant, but if you talking steaks in Montreal – Moishes is the place.
