Gastronomique????. On y retourne ? JAMAIS!

The worst restaurant I’ve ever been to. It doesn’t even deserve my time to write a bad review about it

Comme chez soi is not so chez soi. So we bought a coupon through Groupon to try this restaurant; I wanted couple of goes to do there the baptism but I actually went to Chateau Vaudreuil because came out better from financial stand point and menu. I started with the goat cheese and pear with salad: the pear was all mushy, the salad not washed and you could have seen the leafs being run out and old (I had to take some off the palate); the seasoning was awful, was all about the balsamic the one that you can get over the counter in special; nothing went along. My husband had the escargot in some doubt dough with a plate full of white sauce, you need a strong cognac to clean up your palate after that. Second course my husband chose the pork chops: they were OK but the presentation of the plate with again, river of souce was doubtful to the eyes. I chose, poor me the duck leg. The best things on that plate was the 2 potatoes I had and the onions. The duck needs to be crispy and nice color outside and moist and tender inside. The outside was strong like a concrete and the inside, well let’s just say it you could have had your teeth stuck in it. And on top of all that had a strong and doubtful smell. The kids as usual: pasta with chicken parmigiana. When the plates came in, was HOT HOT but it cool off in 2-3minutes which is a highly indication that the palates were microwave because the inside was cold. the pasta again was topped with ugly slice of tomatoes (no sauce but dices of tomatoes like from the can) and the chicken parmigiana was all dark outside and burned. Kids eat like a quarter of it till their little bellies were OK. The desert we took one ice cream which the kids eaten it, nothing fancy. My husband got the orange crpes; not sure what anybody will expect from orange crpes but I was assuming that there is some sort of orange in the crepe or comfiture… but was a bath of orange sauce that almost spill over and with a big wipe cream in the middle (wipe cream from the spray can…) .The menu: tooo much going on too many choices with low execution. The drinks: I started with an apple martini but not sure what I drank because was not even close to apple martini. Then I wanted a glass of wine and I wanted a house wine but the server told me that she recommends something else by the glass… whatever was cabernet it is like s supermarket one… but sure more expensive. Service: the server was one chatty lady with a lot of personality and her own strong opinion which all the customers could have hear whenever was talking to any of the table; a little bit schooling the customer telling them between lines they no nothing what they want. Not the best not the worst. Appearance: 80’s with a strong green carpet ripped off in the corners, blankets and all decors run off. The little nice touch with the library and chess would have been nice if it would have not been so un-dated. Overall, when you go there you are not Comme chez soi, moi or toi.Somebody needs to either re-think their entire Marketing strategy and go-to market because a few Groupon coupons won’t save it.

Absolutely terrible! Our waitress was cranky, clearly over loaded with tables, slow and the food was awful and way overpriced. ..do not waste your money.

Disappointed. We are always on the lookout for a good local restaurant & had high hopes when trying this restaurant. We got a deal giving us a discount at Comme Chez Soi. We went during a snowstorm & had a window table looking across to le Panier, which still had Christmas decorations. It was a very pretty view. The waitress assured us that all the meat was fresh, even though there was a wide assortment including various game meats. When we mentioned we surprised that they would have that much available fresh she said it was actually vacuum packed & frozen. Being a Belgium restaurant we asked if the fries were fresh & hand cut, Again we were assured that this was the case. My husband ordered the wildboar terrine with candied onions. There was a layer of very sweet jelly on top of the terrine & then finely chopped red peppers. I don’t think there were any onions. I ordered the fillet mignon and my husband had Venison medallion & berry sauce. Both meats were ordered medium but were closer to well done. The vegetables on my plate seemed to be mixed with the sauce but were cold. The meat was not browned on the outside. I don’t know how it was cooked. The venison was in thick slices & it seemed a cranberry sauce rather that the promised wild berries. Neither meat had much flavor The fries were obviously the coated frozen type. The waitress continued to insist they were fresh; that some were twice cooked & some once. This was the reason for inconsistency in the texture. They were nice & hot. The server was very pleasant & was very helpful in recommending a nice bottle of wine but kept changing answers when we questioned her on the food. I suspect much of the meal came from the freezer or a package. Overall we were both very disappointed & won’t be returning.

Lunchtime visit with car. Good value lunchtime menu with some interesting items (wild boar steak for me and bison for my wife – both very good) & a large selection of Belgian beerp
