Food is great, place is great. ( 3/5 for food)Now that said…The only problem I have with this restaurant is that they charge your baby to sit and watch you eat. We paid an additional 5.99$ + tax + tips for our 5 month daughter who is strictly being breastfed since she was born. We were little disappointed with their policy. We will unfortunately not return here in the future as other sushi restaurants ( like Sushi Plus) don’t charge you anything extra for having your little baby with you while you eat. My wife was looking forward to eat sushi because she wasn’t allowed to during her pregnancy. Very frustrated with the establishments policy. We almost felt like we got robbed. Oh and did I mention that my daughter doesn’t have any teeth yet….

I’ve been to this place a few times, both lunch and dinner. I found that for the price, dinner is much better and provides a much bigger selection whereas at lunch time it is very limited and the times that I’ve gone the service was not great. Although, this time I went for supper and the service was quick, polite, and very efficient. The ambiance in this place is very nice and quite trendy. The fish was fresh and we had a great time.

If you’re in west island, you pretty much have been here or if not you need to. The all you can eat sushi experience is something we all need to go through to try out just everything sushi. The oil fish sashimi, the salmon, the eel, and of course the rolls..I can just keep eating. But sadly fill up really quickly . It’s on the pricey side, so create that big appetite , skip a few meals then head to sushi Jean and do justice .

When it comes to the A list of no -nos for arestaurant, Sushi St. Jean hits the mark on all counts. It scores BAD on the scalefor hospitality, service and food. Aboveall, it committed the ultimate proverbial blunder when we were there for lunchone very busy Monday afternoon. We were meaning to try this restaurant for awhile now and were very excited to finally get a chance to make it there. Wechose a quiet day, so we can relax and enjoy our time together, but when we gotthere we misjudged its popularity. Theplace was busting at the seams and there was a line up outside the door, almostaround the corner of the building. The wait would be approximately anhour. We patiently waited but were toldnot to block the aisle near the door as it was a thoroughfare for the waiters.Odd I thought! There was plenty of space for the waiters to manoeuvre aroundthe restaurant, why not keep their customers happy by allowing them to thinkthey were closer to getting in, especially on a crisp cold day. Once inside, if you block the aisle the headwaiter or manager, who reminded me more of the Soup Nazi, kept yelling at youto stand behind the door and would send you back outside behind the doors in theentrance. Many people just turned aroundand left. Not very welcoming I thought.Nonetheless, I ignored this while my pressuremounted at his incessant yelling. Finally, Brains and I were seated. We were given an electronic pad where wecould choose what we wanted to eat.Brains and I thought it was innovative and very cool. There are no paper menus here folks and forthe electronically un-inclined it can be frustrating. Albeit tons of wait staff, there is noservice to help you and they seemfrustrated when asking them questions regarding their electronic pad. You areon your own here to starve. Also, mostof the staff that day also spoke barely any English or French or very little ofboth. I felt like I entered a third world restaurantin Asia and got a strange feeling that management had hired illegal immigrantsstraight from China. Who knows, being afranchise, maybe they have something else going and restauration is a blanketoperation. It definitely is not theirforte.Well, that being said, Thank God Brains iselectronically inclined, and we did not have too much of an issue choosing fromthe PAD. I am from the old school andgoing to a restaurant means i like the whole ritual of dining out, ordering from la Carte, speaking to a waiter, asking questions and all the formalities. But we managed to order a plethora of thingsfrom the PAD. Then a waitress who couldbarely speak English came to our table filled our water glasses, mumbled a fewincomprehensible words and took our PAD away. Brains and I looked at each other, smiled andshrugged, finally able to relax while waiting for our food; we started a deepconversation until we were interrupted but a loud clang and I felt something hitting my foot and leg. I looked down and saw a waitress picking up abroken beer bottle at my feet. Thank godI was wearing pants and leather boots asa piece of chard hit my leg, Iimmediately made a sarcastic comment to the waitress that it was a good premise for a law suit. The comment was not acknowledged, no apologyfrom the waitress, she just picked up the broken beer bottle quietly andproceeded with her daily tasks, as if we were not even there and nothing hadhappened. I started to get vocal at the lack ofconsideration and unprofessionalism, all the while, Brains noticed a piece ofbrown glass in her drinking water. I wasnot pleased and Brains was downplaying the scene I was about to create. Sheremoved the piece of chard from her glass and asked for some more water whenfinally our waitress arrived. It was all downhill after that. The foodstarted to arrive, in very small portions, one after the other, very quickly. There was no more room on our table but they kept piling it on, sometimes notknowing what we were eating. I felt so rushed I forgot to take pictures. Thefood, I can say was mediocre at best and not very nicely presented. Theportions were extremely small; some dished looked soggy and limp. The waitressdisappeared again, never to return and we did not get our fried squid. When wefinally hailed her, it took almost an hour to get our soggy two pieces ofsquid. We never got to order seconds, even if we wanted to, because the servicewas extremely slow after the lunch rush and the place started to empty out. Youwould figure by now we could get some service at least, but the staff seemed tohave disappeared for a long lunch break. So its not an all you can eat place, because the feelinghere was get it all while you can in one shot, eat quickly and leave, no goingback .For $ 15.99 per person and $1.00 for tea, itwas a steep price to pay for the bad experience, and for the lack quantity andquality of the food and terrible service.Exasperated I asked for the bill and leftquickly, vowing never to return to any of their establishments. montrealfoofoodie.com

Terrible food terrible service. The waiters are very rude . One of the waitresses was giving us a hard time because we were ordering shortly after the first order. The food was terrible the rice was very mushy , it looked like rice pudding . I have never seen in my life rice like this .20 May, 2015The worst place ever. The service was terrible , the waiters were sooooo rude. Wanted us to order once , everything at the same time . The food was terrible the rice was beyond mushy it looked like rice pudding.
