We waited 30 mins to be seated without a reservation on a Saturday evening as a group of 3. I Tried the mandu vegetarian dumplings and the beef and egg dolsot bibimbap. The dolsot bibimbap comes in a hot stone bowl and continues cooking as you eat so it’s delicious. Plenty of vegetables and meat, and quite filling so I took 1/2 to go. It’s a very simple restaurant with efficient service. They bring you all-you-can-eat small appetizers in the beginning (kimchi, coleslaw, etc). A neighbourhood Korean gem!
February 12, 2016. I had such good memories of this cozy and simple restaurant, frequented in 2012-2014… Today’s meal erased those and I am sorry to say I will not return. All the flavors were toned down from the soup, to the salad, and the main course (BBQ chicken, beef for my guest). And the service, which in the past was so courteous and informed, was in barely understandable English (albeit with a smile).July 14, 2016: lunch with colleagues. Well, I must changethe previous comments because the main courses of barbecued chicken and pork were delicious and well seasoned (the chickenespecially tender and juicy). The appetizers were all right, but not a surprise as I have been there several times. Today the service was attentive. There was a birthday being celebrated andcandles were kindly put on the cake that was brought (from elsewhere).
Above average food, but pricy. I recommend their kimchi soup and bibimbap. The bibimbap is quite pricey (something like $15), but it exceeds that of other restaurants. The serving is large, and it tastes fresh.
First time; Korean BBQ, in Montreal. I’ve had Korean BBQ for the first time in Toronto, a second and third time in Calgary, and my first time with a friend here in Montreal; at La Maison de Seoul 5030 Rue Sherbrooke O. My first impressions of the place were that it had a quaint aesthetic to it, and I love that about it!The host was very informative and friendly, and from what I understood is that it was family owned too. Not like any other place I’ve been before, in the sense that most restaurants are all about customer acquisition; i.e: flipping tables and maximizing daily profits. La Maison de Seoul was the opposite, I felt treated well, and respected as a customer. I’ll tell you why in a moment. But first ! I absolutely loved that it was a BYOW (bring your own wine) restaurant ! I was a little disappointed that it wasn’t an all you can eat though, as cooking your meal for yourself is a fun activity especially if you are on a date, and want to impress your lady =P But honestly, it wasn’t such a huge deal not to either… the proportions were staggering, and I’m the type of guy who has his fill, and I was full, and still we had a lot to take home !The appetizers/side dishes are continuously brought to the table as you please, and the meat proportions were plenty for two people..And the one thing I must mention, this restaurant closes at 10pm on weekends.. my friend and I left at midnight, as we were finishing our wine and enjoying our conversation. The owners just sat there and were having their meal too, and we weren’t rushed to leave.. this reminds me of how it is customary in Seoul, Korea, that restauranteurs close up when you are ready to leave, not the other way around. I loved that ! I will definitely be going back there again soon !!Korean BBQ all you can eat is great, but honestly, the portions are perfect there, you will not be displeased ! And the dessert, amazing ! Tempura Ice cream, yum !! Need I say more 😛
Scrumptious food with cheap prices. Excellent service. Good ambiance. Clean. Can bring your own wine. I already visited other korean restaurants in Montreal but this tops them all. I’m sure im gonna eat at this restaurant again to try their other specialties. ^^
Good quality food using fresh ingredient. Enormous portion for one person. Definitely need to share one dish between two. Dolsot Bibimbab was of a fusion but very good even for Koreans.
Westernized korean food While they may have traditional dishes, the taste is not quite like home made korean food
