Wouldn’t be a regular.. Among its competitors, this place isn’t really doing anything to stand out or make me want to return. The staff was borderline impolite and overall I did not get a good vibe from this place. The prices are on the high end and the food, while alright, wouldn’t be worth returning for in my opinion. I’ll stick to several of the other competitors of this place where the staff are genuinely friendly and the food and prices are more reasonable.

Fantastic Food!. Let me start by saying, as a British guy from England I’ve eaten curry almost my entire life.. My whole family back home practically lives on the food.. therefore, its with great confidence you can take my word for how good the food is. I’ve lived in Saskatoon for 4 years and I have tried a variety of Indian/Pakistani restaurants and they have all been aweful! this little gem though is incredible! They use the perfect blend of flavour and spices that even I have to admit, if this was back in England, it would be in my top 3. yes, really, my top 3! I rarely write reviews so if any of my fellow Brits are reading this and missing a good curry, then get down here now.. you won’t be disappointed!

Excellent Food. It was my first time at Swadesh Restaurant. i went there with my friend, and was not sure whether i want to try the food or not. My friend ordered for the food and, she asked me to share with her. i was amazed after trying that, the food was really good, and so as the customer service. I have been to other East Indian restaurants where you are left unattended for long time, but here the I found that the staff was working nice, and always willing to help. I think they need a little improvement in certain sections, but my overall experience at Swadesh was good, and i Will surely recommend the restaurant to others.

Homely food. The food was surprisingly good and felt like home! Friendly staff and a clean joint overall. Very economical as well. We ordered the mixed vegetable, tandoori roti and daal makhani. Would recommend this restaurant to others!

Beyond excellent. For a location that is littered with eastern fair, the Swadesh restaurant is a gem. The restaurant itself has undergone no changes in layout or seating since it was an asian buffet many years ago; but do not let this prevent you from going and enjoying the magic that makes Swadesh restaurant amazing. Once you get past the decor and dive into the food you will be coming back for seconds, thirds or until your belt buckle breaks. Every single item on the buffet is packed with unique flavour. From the colourful basmati to the butter chicken you will find that the food is very unique and not anything ordinary. On a side note: If you love samosas you will be pleased with the ones a Swadesh.None of the items are greasy or overwhelmingly spicy. But for those that do not like it too spicy there is yogurt to calm your taste buds. The only negative is that the buffet is covered with those annoying plastic lids that slip through your fingers and could potentially end up on the floor. I hope they get rid of these and find a better solution.Regardless, for a $13.99 lunch you cannot go wrong. I highly recommend you add the Swadesh restaurant to your regular dining rotation.

Great lunch buffet. My friends and I stopped in at Swadesh for lunch, after the original restaurant we wanted to go to was closed. We were pleasantly surprised at what a great little place this is. The food at the buffet was hot and flavourful, and there were lots of options for both the carnivores & vegetarians in the group. The service was fantastic, and they brought plates of fresh pakora straight to our table. Delicious!!!! We’ll definitely be returning here. By the way, if you want food that is spicier than what’s on the buffet, order from the menu. They can adjust the spice from mild to knock your socks off hot!
