Kid and I stopped in for supper. It was around 5 when we arrived. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. We were told to sit wherever we chose and the hostess/ server would be right in with menus. So we found a table. We were the only customers. Our server was pleasant enough.I ordered pizza and kid ordered cutlets. The pizza was definitely not as good as Venice House on the East side. But it was ok. It was definitely lacking toppings. For a pizza priced over 20 you’d expect a fair share of toppings. I also found it very odd not to have chilli or Parmesan to accompany. Kids cutlets were store bought and looked very dried out with only a small amount of gravy. Edible food but won’t go back.
I used to frequent this restaurant and now I now i will never go there. the last two times that I have been there there has been a problem with the meal the first problem was with a mushroom burger and the mushrooms were horrible they had a bad, off taste to them. I called, spoke to the manager, which was the owner, and he told me that’s the way they are supposed to taste, they taste good. I just thought okay fine (maybe my taste buds were off). I decided to give them another chance, i order the hot beef sandwich. the roast beef was good but there was little gravy on the sandwich, making it dry. I called back to comment on this and the front girl said that she seen that there was lots of gravy, not seeming to care that I made the call. I then asked to speak to the manager / owner and he was not accepting my call. I will never ever give him another one of my hard earned dollars. I worked in the restaurant business for 21 years, and this manager/owner does NOT know what he is doing!
It’s been a lot of years since visiting Venice House and a regret it is now. By far the best pizza in Saskatoon. If you want to take a break from the pizza chains out there, you won’t regret it.The pizza crust was amazing. Tasted fluffy and fresh. The dough itself is thin because the toppings, sauce and cheese are a plentiful gooey mess. An artistic masterpiece!Authentic Saskatoon dining that justifies why it’s been around for 30+ years.
Absolutely Revolting. I ordered the grilled chicken burger, with fries and a side caesar salad. The burger wasn’t cooked, the cheese was horrifying, the chicken itself was horrid quality with gristle, the lettuce on the burger was brown and there was way too much sauce on the bun. I didn’t touch the caesar salad as the lettuce was both brown and that gross green slime texture, and was swimming in dressing. The only upside was fast delivery and the fries were okay I guess. I will never be ordering from this restaurant again.
