Awsome dumplings. 🙂 (Why it has to be at least 140 characters to add a review? Have to add some crap here to make that work god damn it! Whats the meaning of this? Two wards is all I have to say for a REVIEW)
Real deal Chinese food. As a previous reviewer said, don’t expect ginger beef and sweet and sour chicken. It’s more like Chinese caf or street food.As someone that isn’t from Saskatoon, this place was a little tricky to find (it’s attached to Bonanza). Today was one of the coldest days I’d experienced in a long time and I was drawn to this place by the promise of good noodles and soup. And I wasn’t disappointed. I went all out and ordered the spicy tripe ($6), pan fried dumplings with string beans and pork ($11), and mutton noodle soup ($10)First to the table was the tripe. It was a cold salad, crisp, and acidic with just enough spice for me. Knife work on the tripe and veg was amazing and as I was halfway through shovelling it in my face, my noodle soup arrived. I dove right in and tasted the broth; it was rich, flavourful and not too salty. The noodles appear to be house made and had a great chew to them. The veg was the perfect compliment and took me back to my childhood. Next came the dumplings; they were juicy and crisp with a hint of ginger. Positively delicious! Total bill was under $30. You can’t get that kind of food for that price anywhere (even some of the best cafs in Van can’t compete with this place). I left feeling full with a nice warmth in my tummy. I wanted something sweet to finish things off but they didn’t really have anything. My one real complaint: it was really cold in the restaurant so my soup got chilled pretty quickly. That isn’t enough to keep me away and I’ll be back!
Came here for a quick bite with my wife. We had the mutton noodle soup and the famous noodle soup (spicy and sour). Both were very good if you enjoy noodle soup besides the regular PHO (which is mediocre in Saskatoon) price was average. The spicy noodle has a very unique taste to it. The portion was good. Glass noodles were cooked well. The mutton (lamb) had a smaller portion meat wise but was still Ok. It’s authentic Asian food so if you’re used to the chicken balls and sweet sour pork, prepare for a palette change.
Everything were good but not great. The pork jelly is good, it is crisp and the dipping sauce was good. I like their hot and sour soup noodle. I order it extra hot, it was spicy with hints of sour. There are peanut, seaweed, ginger, garlic and lots of noodle in the soup.Very big portion! It is also quite authentic which I do appreciate. I will go back to try their dumplings.
Very good dumpling restaurant. We tried 4 appetizers and 4 dumplings. The radish beef and string bean pork were the best dumplings. All the appetizers were great with the jelly pork and pancake being amazing. I want to go back and try everything because the soups look great.Edit: have been back a few times. Everything is great every time and the soups are large and filling.
