Amazing food and amazing experience. There were seven of us so we ordered lots of different dishes to share and all of them were very good. The service was great, whenever we needed anything there was already someone near who got it right away which is not very common anymore. You usually have to search for someone to help you and then it takes them a while but not here which was nice. It was Mother’s Day when we were there and they gave the moms each a rose and brought two big pieces of chocolate cake for the table to share which was a really nice touch. We weren’t going to get desert but the chocolate cake was AMAZING (and I’m so glad they brought us some). I can’t begin to describe how good it was. I’d go back just to order the chocolate cake again and everyone in my family agrees. I will be going back soon and I highly recommend this place for everyone to try!
Ordered beef biryani and sheesh kebabs with naan. The beef biryani was very tasty! The meat tasted fresh with the right amount of spice. The sheesh kebabs were a bit on the bland side, not enough spice. Unfortunately I did not enjoy this dish. The naans were really good! They were crispy and smelled delicious. The ambiance of the restaurant made me feel welcome.
There is no question–we will be returning to this fabulous restaurant. The food was phenomenal, and there were unique dishes we’d never seen before. Looking through the menu, we were like kids in a candy shop–what to choose?!?! . There were many dishes suitable for vegetarians, although vegan options were more limited. I suspect the cook would be gracious enough to accommodate, and make modifications to other dishes to make them suitable. Our server had a gentle, accommodating manner, and was very attentive while not being intrusive. Once learning of my dietary restrictions, on a hunch, he took the initiative and asked in the kitchen about an item I’d ordered, returning to inform me that it I should order a different dish. The fact that they have a tandoori oven enables them to serve incredible naan and roti. When our food arrived, our server wanted to know how the spice level was, and we indicated that we do like food quite spicy. He left and returned with a small dish of some sort of spicy paste which we mixed into our dishes–perfection! The decor is colourful, and the bathrooms clean (and amply spacious for those require additional accessibility). This restaurant is a little out of the way, and somewhat difficult to access, but TOTALLY worth the effort. Our only suggestion? Consider changing the ambient music 😉
Great food. We tried their beef vindaloo and garlic naan bread. We weren’t very hungry and this was a great stop for a good light Indian meal.
Food was great! Service was exceptional. The tandoori naan melted in our mouths as did the masala dosa. Curries were hot & fresh with truly homemade flavour. My Pakistani husband and I have decided this is our new favourite Indian restaurant in town!
We really enjoyed Urban Spice! Great service and really interesting dishes we hadn’t seen at other Indian restaurants. Will be back. Had the Bombay pani puri as an appetiser, which was quite entertaining, then the chutney masala dosa and were convinced to try the faluda (a cross between a milkshake and bubble tea) which was all very good.
Highly recommended, excellent naan, friendly staff, and awesome Dosas. The decor is well executed as well is the menu and overall aesthetic. Definitely worth your while.
