Retro Lunch Buffet. If you truly want to see how far Chinese restaurants have come in Saskatoon, come eat here. They had all the old favourites from when you were a kid and didn’t know how tasty Chinese food really is. Shrimp in inch thick batter (actually laughed out loud when I cut into one)… I have always wondered how they got the batter so thick around such a tiny shrimp… I digress… egg rolls with oil pouring out when you cut them in half (or mistakenly bite into it) … neon sweet and sour pork, chicken balls (I have never tried them but wondered if they are the same as the shrimp) fried rice and chow mein noodles … they even had deviled eggs in the salad /dessert area… This place is probably popular with a older crowd that hates change and likes the old style Canadian Chinese food… I am not part of that generation and would not be able to bring myself to ever come back.

Very cheap, breakfast, lots of food for $5 but not very tasty. Eggs overcooked, bacon tasted off, potatoes tasted like old wok oil

Came for breakfast today. Ba…. Came for breakfast today. I was here once many moons ago. The deco looks as if it hasn’t changed since the early 80’s. The tables were dirty, one table behind us that was cleaned you could see greasy/sticky wipe marks from a cloth, not a little but terribly noticeable. I had the bacon and eggs which included toast and hash browns. I asked for the bacon to be crispy but the bacon was deep fried and petrified. The eggs were way over cooked. I was excited to see homemade hashbrowns. But I was horribly disappointed they were extremely bland and unseasoned. The price for this mess was $4.99.

Every Saturday morning. . . . and often during the week too. Good solid bacon and eggs at a very reasonable cost. But the real draw are Chau Ann, Chantel and Emily. They’re all . . . well, just sweet. The coffee ain’t bad either.

Simply amazing.. Chau Ann’s is a great place if you’re in a rush, looking for quick food, or if you’re just in the mood for excellent food. The owners are great, really nice and always making sure their food is made with the utmost care and attention. The buffet is always amazing and stocked with a wide selection of food. A couple trips up and you’ll definitely be wishing you had saved more room before you arrived. If you’re not in the buffet mood there is still a huge selection of healthy and delicious options on the menu that are prepared quickly. Of course, breakfast is always a favorite but lunch is amazing too! Just an overall awesome eating experience.

Writing this review made me hungry. I originally came here just for the lunch buffet, but I soon realised how good the menu was as well. Buffet has some great options and is fresh. Lots of variety to chose from. You can really tell that Ann has experience in making these dishes – one taste and you’ll know what I mean.A steaming bowl of delish homemade wonton soup on a cold day in this cosy and friendly little restaurant will warm anyone up. Gotta try the pancakes off the menu. Again, really fresh tasting and – they really can’t be beaten. Good place to meet friends as its really relaxed (especially outside of lunch hours when it gets quite busy) – I always get excited come here and enjoy Ann’s fresh and delish food.
