    Came here for the first time on a dinner date more than a year ago. It was great because my date was amazing, but the food was just okay, nothing special. The service was good, but the food wasn’t impressive. No photos from this day.Went again for lunch a few months ago with some friends (their choice). Again, the service was good (a bit slow, but they were busy), but the food was just okay. I kept feeling like I could make similar things at home.2nd Ave Grill must think their food is amazing though, because they charge as if they’re a upscale gourmet restaurant. This place isn’t bad enough to be worth avoiding if your dining partner wants to go, but if you’re looking for a satisfying meal, there are better places to go in the city.Pictured is the steak sandwich. I love cheese, but there was so much of it I had to leave some on the plate. My friend got the portabella burger and it looked soggy.

    This place is overpriced. The food is about like Applebees, only three times the price. I likely will not be back, although I had a mushroom soup that was really good and I could MAYBE see myself coming back for a light lunch if that is all I ordered.

    Because of the location and quietness of the inside even if it’s busy this is a good place for dinner meetings. That said I do think the food is pretty standard. It’s good but many of the dishes are bland for my preferences. They do have some gluten free stuff which is nice. They do good specials.

    Worst service ever. We had called ahead and made a reservation for 100 people at 11 am on Monday January 18th. It took us about a half hour to even get water and then another 20 to order. We were never offered a top up on water or any drinks. At approximately 12:30pm the food started coming out. By the time the last table got their food it was 1:15pm. The first table had eaten and paid for their meals by then. We suspected we had been given a set menu to speed up food prep time, but it did not seem to help. If this timing was typical for 2nd Ave Grill then we should have been warned in advance. It definitely would have been a deal breaker.Since the bill was autogratted it was very obvious our server felt no need to work for her tip. She snapped at me twice for asking why the food was taking as long as it was and she snapped at many of my teammates from what I was told. She tried to blame the timing of the meal on us arriving late to the reservation (which, yes, we did arrive 15 minutes late), but if anything that should give the restaurant more time to prepare. I would never have left her a tip if it hadn’t been included.Bottom line is, if you say you can handle a 100 person reservation then you should staff enough employees to handle it properly. If you cannot, then do not accept the reservation.Things for 2nd Ave Grill to note if they ever take a large reso again (which I do not recommend they do):-Staff at least one server per table-Put water on the table before guests arrive to speed up the wait time when ordering drinks-Check on the customers (I would have ordered a ceaser if I had the opportunity)-Don’t yell at a customer and never try to blame their bad experience on them-Let customers know when a bill is autogratted-Work on timing the food better or give a warning

    We went to this restaurant a few months ago and I gotta say that for the price we paid for we definitely deserved a much better service and more food! Their servings were like meant for small children! The servers, although friendly, need more training. They gave us the wrong order twice! Because of that, we had to wait quite a while before we could start to eat our dinner and by then we had already lost our appetite. We were so ready to walk out of the establishment but I figured we’d give them another chance given the fact that our first time here wasn’t half bad. To sum it up the service was slow, the servers were friendly but forgetful, the food tasted okay but the servings should be at least double what we got and the ambiance, well it’s a pub so not so much to expect from. By the way I tried to talk to a supervisor or manager but I was told there was none that time which was surprising because it was a Friday. I left my name and number for the manager to contact me so that he or she can rectify the situation but it has been months now and I still have not heard from them. Maybe the staff didn’t say anything about it. In conclusion, I doubt I will be back unless my complaint is handled properly.

    Always loved this place until. Me and my girlfriend have spent an unknown amount of money in restaurants trying to find a nice place to eat. We thought we found it here in second Ave grill after the last two times being amazing…. Until the service we had tonight. The woman who helped us acted abnormally rushed even though she would disappear for 10 minutes at a time. Acted very non personable and rarely asked us if we needed anything. After spending 100$ on food that we didn’t expect the charges we ended up getting with our waitress grabbing us larger wine glasses than we expected and charging us. Also she came with the bill without asking if we needed anything else like another drink or two… As if trying to tell us to get out. Very terrible… I have no issue spending 100+ on a meal but when this happens don’t expect us to come again and you shouldn’t bother either. There’s much more other places to eat in Saskatoon without the attitude or the person trying to steal money from you for a bigger tip. Very terrible experience tonight none the less
