When I think of beer house I think of mediocre pub food but not at the Congress. The meals do not contain run of the mill ingredients found at every other establishment. For example, my salad had dates and micro greens. The dishes are fresh, prepared with care and talent and are delicious. The server was attentive as well. Will definitely be back!
I was actually trying to go somewhere else to eat but did not realize it was closed on Mondays so walked around downtown & decided to come here. I looked at the menu & nothing really looked special but was I wrong decided to order the biscuits & gravy as an app & the cheese burger as my main with kale caesarsalad. The biscuits & gravy was very good the gravy had sausage in it & had a great flavor butyou could still taste the biscuit. The burger was amazing they are allowed to cook the burgers to medium here was so juicy the patty had great seasoning & nice smokiness from the aioli.This was definitely a top ten burger I have ever had & a must try for any burger lover.
I put off trying this restaurant/pub for quite a while since most of the ones downtown have been quite disappointing. I can happily say I have become quite a fan of this place. They have a pretty good variety of menu options and also many different drink options. My personal favourite are their burgers and poutine, so good ! It is in a great location and also has a cozy but very open and large atmosphere on the inside. The service has been hit and miss and slow at times even when it is not busy. Overall its a really great place to check out for food and drinks.
Refused service to a Canadian Armed Forces and RCMP veteran. Rude staff, bad food, lacklustre service. Would not survive in a town with people who have education or taste. Complete failure and a national disgrace.
Came here with a group. They accommodated a vegan which was much appreciated. However, service in general was awful. We were treated as if we were a nuisance. We were forced to tip at the end of the night which explains why the staff feel safe being rude to guests. I will give it another chance because I was so appreciative that they could accommodate a vegan diet. I would avoid coming with a group in the future.
Best burgers in the city, hands down! I’ve been here many times for a beer and a burger and they have by far the best beef and toppings. They have lots of different beer available as well. A great place for a special occasion or casual dining.
