Don’t ever eat there even if is freezing cold outside!. Monday December 8th went down for a 30 dollar trout, I’ve had that same dish there before and although I found it way overpriced, it was actually OK. But this time the food was just terrible! The plate was cold when they brought it to my table fish was still cold, I sent it back to cook it more. It came back 10 mins later still cold. Don’t ever eat there even if it is like -50 with 5 ft of snow outside

This place is declining at a steady rate.. The Bess used to be one of my favorite places for Sunday brunch but over the last few years the quality has really declined. went there for mothers day and it was awful. Arrived on time for my reservation with our party of 8. They had the wrong name, wrong number of people and we had to stand awkwardly for 30 mins before we were finally seated. Poor management. I will say that they servers are extremely nice and seem well trained. The food was cold for the most part and the selection was mediocre at best considering the special occasion brunch. The eggs benny was bland and cold. The chicken parm had a really strange taste i couldn’t quite put my finger on, also cold. The goat cheese macaroni was VERY bland and reminded of hospital mac n cheese. The asparagus was cold and tasted burnt, not a good combo. Cheese selection was lacking, I only saw 3 kinds. The chocolate fondue with fruit from years past was absent. Instead each table got a plate of chocolate covered strawberries, 1 for each person. The highlights were the pesto vegetables and the short ribs. one last gripe. The table full of juice had no labels. I thought i was pouring apple juice, turned out to be cranberry. Went back thought it was orange juice it was apple, Frustrating. I used to love your restaurant but i am sad to say i don’t plan on coming back anytime soon.

Nothing special, overpriced. I took my family out one evening for dinner and while the meal was alright there was nothing particularly good about it’s substance or presentation. There are better places to go when you are paying $50+ a person for dinner and a drink.

One of my 3 fav brunches!. What a wonderful location & atmosphere! The coffee is fabulous, the cheese tray is exceptionally well stocked but only if you arrive early. Its the little extras that take this brunch over the top! The desserts are amazing, especially the Death By Chocolate style chocolate pate. Add some raspberry coulis from the waffle station and oh mama! The salad and extras table is full of delights with sushi, amuse bouche and sometimes a Tapenade that I dream about! The eggs benny is very good, the hot selections are always delicious, the omelets divine. My only complaint is that the breads, muffins, croissants are consistently stale. Not just at brunch, but even when I have been there for meetings & conventions. This is especially frustrating as they serve my favorite jams. Perhaps next time I will order toast with my brunch!

The food was okay but I am not sure about the value quotient. I wonder how long this place will be open with the current menu as it is surprisingly empty at supper time. Service was not what I expected at these prices.

This place is not all its cracked up to be. I was really excited to go there for sunday brunch however you are pretty much forced into the $27 buffet that is extremely average and definitely not worth the price. The server that we had was very unattentive and made it seem like it was an inconvenience for her that she had to serve us. Definitely will not be going there again!!!

The Bess seems to have this reputation as if it can do no wrong. Generally this is deserved but not in the case of Sunday brunch at the garden cafe. There is no way that $27 a person is a reasonable charge for the Sunday buffet. Not a chance. I don’t deny the food was completely average but I expect some quality food for damn near $30. Overall, unimpressed and will not be likely to return. Save your money and go to poached instead.
