I have no particular issue with the quality of the food at The Garden Court; it’s fine, but not exceptional. It’s also somewhat overpriced, with breakfasts clocking in at $16-$18, not including beverage. But mostly my low rating reflects the quality of service, which, for a restaurant in a major hotel, is remarkably slow and unresponsive. On more than one occasion, our morning coffees were cold by the time cream was delivered to the table. Here’s an example:* Server delivers coffee to the table. We ask for cream. She leaves for the prep area.* Some 5-10 minutes later, we hail another server and ask if we could please have some cream. She acknowledges and goes to the prep area.* We hear her tell the first server that Table 2 needs cream.* Server 1 says she’s busy right now preparing tea.* We wait another 5-10 minutes before cream arrives at our table. This happened while there were TWO tables (4 patrons in total) seated in the restaurant. This was not an isolated incident, nor were we the only ones in our group (a wedding) to experience this kind of service. It was the norm. Another member of the group spent over an hour getting lunch. He though he’d made a prudent choice for quick turnaround with Soup of the Day. He was wrong. If you have any choice whatsoever, leave the hotel and find a place that’s cheaper and, above all, faster. It won’t be hard.
