In town for a few days with daughter scouting places to live during her graduate program (VetMed) at UofS. This place was highly recommended by a good friend who went to UofS years ago and also visited as a flight attendant. Service was fantastic Luigi was a riot! Great food and atmosphere over rode dated interior. Definitely coming again though!!

Very Disappointed with out Dinner. The appetizers was the only saving grace of the dinner (we ordered the Gamberi, Ravioli and the Calamari) and they were tasty. The Soup that was served with the mains was cold (lukewarm at the best). For a restaurant to serve lukewarm soup to guests at 7 pm I think is a good demonstator of the quality. The Mains (Pollo Al Limone and Pollo Al Marsala) were ok. The Spagetti lacked the basic ingredient (some salt). The chicken itself was mediocre, lacking salt and flavour. I was hoping that the Bellini I ordered would atleast save the dinner, but it came out with little pieces of ground unripe peach (looked liked curdled milk) and wasnt appetizing at all. Thanks for the subpar dinner. Will definately not come back.

Their renovation is gorgeous. Keeps the vibe of the place (mirrors everywhere, dim lighting, red tables, vintage accents) but modernizes it in a beautiful way. The menu is awesome. We got an appetizer sampler to start (11.50 or something for taster-sized portions of 3 picks, not a bad deal). We had meatballs (amazing) ravioli (ridiculously good) and the bruschetta (to die for). For mains, we had chicken Alfredo (classic) and the tagliatelle with beef ragu (delicious). Menu is a little on the pricey side, but the portions are huge and the food is so good. The atmosphere, menu, and presentation just scream date night. Im so glad that this Saskatoon classic got the facelift it deserves!

Horrible Service and Horrible food. My friends and I had opted to go to Taverna for a nice meal before our movie. We made a reservation for 5:30 giving us just under 2 hours for our meal (our movie was at 7:30 so needed to leave Taverna by 7:20). We were seated promptly upon arrival and were part of only a handful of people in the restaurant. Our server arrived promptly and my husband ordered a Coke. The rest of us were undecided on drinks so asked for a second to decide. She returned with my husbands Coke and the rest of us ordered drinks. She brought drinks and we asked about specials and thats where the night went downhill. She had no idea what specials there were so she left to check. When she came back we asked for a minute to decide on appetizers. She returned about 10 mins later and we ordered our appetizers. Before we could order our mains though she disappeared. Never even asked if we were ready to order our mains. Then we didnt see her again until she brought out our appetizers which was about 10 mins later. We had to tell her when she delivered our appetizers that we wanted to order our main courses.; this was about 5:50pm. She took our order and disappeared again. No ask to refill drinks that were clearly empty and she didnt come back to see if we were enjoying our appetizers; which were great by the way. We finished our appetizers and then sat there for almost an hour without service. At 6:45 we told the water girl we had a movie at 7:30 and were asked if we had told our server about our movie; no we hadnt because we didnt realize that we had to inform our server of later plans while having dinner. The water girl stayed she would check with our server about our food. At this point the 4some seared at a table behind us, who arrived after us and ordered after us received their food; we werent impressed. Our then came up and stayed that our food would be out and we would be fed and out by 7:30. We stayed the movie was at 7:30 and needed to be out before then. At 7pm we were contemplating just leaving and eating at the theater. We FINALLY got our food at 7:05pm and it was horrible. I had the veal piccata and the spaghetti pomodoro was so spicy I couldnt eat it (and I like spicy food). My husband had the tagaletteli alla marinara and his noodles were extremely doughy and basically stuck together in a clump. Our friend had the lasagna and the bolognese was so sickly sweet you couldnt eat it. In the end we barely ate any of our food, first because it was quite unappetizing and second because we now had to rush to the movie. We have been to Taverna many time in the past and have always had a wonderful experience. This was the first time since their reno and sadly we can clearly state that we will never return and will not recommend this place to anyone. We were so very disappointed.

I love Italian food and carbs. While many restaurants had a wait time, Taverna only had a 5 min wait. Our server was very friendly and made small talk easily. The restaurant has a relaxed, fine dining experience, topped with an authentic Italian menu. Our food arrived quickly, was well proportioned, and tasted like fresh ingredients. Best time to visit is a summer evening when the front doors open up to outdoor seating.

Pretty sure this is the only place in Saskatoon for classic Italian food! If you’re craving spaghetti, ravioli, lasagna, etc. this place definitely will satisfy your cravings. Everything I’ve tried has been delicious! I’ve had a few different pizzas, pasta dishes, salads and appies. The place could probably benefit from hiring more staff – almost every time I go the servers are running around like crazy and the food takes a long time. But the food always tastes great and in the end that’s why I go to Taverna’s!
